NOTE: This is a hybrid role working 2-3 days per week out of our Mississauga, Ontario, Canada office

A Day in the Life of a Category Manager:


This role will have responsibility for partnering with Walmart and our Hasbro sales team to create category growth and drive Hasbro revenues and share of market.


Category Management Projects


  • Track Category Management projects implementation and targets achievement
  • Analyze Customer Performance and develop recommendations (assortment, department and shelf layout) based on Customer strategy and category role.
  • Partner with Commercial teams to generate recommendations and shape annual plans that drive revenue growth for Hasbro and the category
  • Support the Perfect Store initiative roll-out by building the right range to maximize sales and marketing strategies by channel.
  • Deliver and support maintenance of evaluation tools to assess range recommendations and ensure local markets are aligned and following recommendations.


Assortment Management


  • Script and push product for promotions and replenishment needs, reviewing Walmart supply plan and ad hoc forecasts
  • Manage non-go-forward inventory and minimize unhealthy inventory
  • Provide forecasts and analytics to the Merchant in preparation for modular walkthroughs
  • Execute on day-to-day item maintenance in partnership with modular planning teams to ensure ease of execution for MOD check-in
  • Partner with all suppliers to provide analysis, recommendations, and strategy for Walmart’s OMNI business
  • Develop a quarterly update of assortment recommendations by trade channel in collaboration with Brand Marketing and in alignment with Sales Department
  • Build planograms at Walmart’s layout center in partnership with the Merchant
  • Develop customized assortment matrixes for Walmart and quarterly tracking of assortment matrix implementation by each retailer channel


Space Management


  • Implement Perfect Shelf / Perfect Bay / Perfect Aisle / Perfect Store framework
  • Train sales team on Company shelf layout recommendation
  • Update quarterly shelf layout recommendations based on recent market data considering assortment changes (new launches, product delisting).


Shopper Research


  • Define a category plan in-line with Joint Business Plans and Shopper Insights on channel level and support the sales team in execution locally
  • Brief shopper research in conjunction with the Global CMI team in order to get relevant data for assortment and shelf layout recommendations development and for Category Management projects implementation
  • Implement Shopper research / POS data management


What You Will Bring:


  • High level of computer literacy (Retail Link, MS Office, Space Planning systems (Pro Space), portfolio optimization tools)
  • Strategic thinking and vision
  • Knowledge of the tools provided by NPD/Kanta
  • Minimum of 5 years of Category Management experience
  • Expertise and working knowledge in Trade Marketing, Shopper Insights and Analytics / Business Intelligence
  • Project and program management experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to analyze data from different sources; turning complex data into business insights
  • Business partnership skills, able to collaborate, influence and work as part of a matrix organization
