Job Description
Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate will be working in one of our site offices across Canada with a mixture of on and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement is subject to change, based on operational needs.

About The Role


Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Regular full-time Business Relationship Coordinator to join our dynamic IT Strategy & Governance team.


The Business Relationship Coordinator (BRC) is responsible for maintaining a dialogue with key stakeholders of IT services. The position will focus on 3 areas: forging and maintaining stakeholder connections, supporting IT’s primary business project intake channel, and collecting IT strategy performance data.


Key Responsibilities:


Forging and Maintaining Stakeholder Connections:


  • Providing a quantitative view of client interactions based on updating stakeholder profiles.
  • Acting as an advisor to business partners to help shape their IT technology related initiatives.
  • Reflecting to stakeholders the status of project requests and other high-level IT activities that are within the scope of the BRM / IT Stakeholder discussions.
  • Assessing the written and verbally explained concepts and ensuring that they are being translated into actionable information.
  • Ensuring that stakeholders are aware of IT capabilities which may require calling on various IT subject matter experts.
  • Facilitating an understanding of business and IT initiatives through tactful communication methods with all participants.
  • Exercising advanced interpersonal skills to build rapport with stakeholders.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with business partners and acting as a liaison between information services teams and business partners.


Supporting IT’s Main Business Project Intake Channel:


  • Synthesizing concepts and initiatives into high level scope statements for assessment.
  • Participating in the development of business strategic planning and IT strategic planning.
  • Assessing the degree of alignment between stakeholders regarding specific initiatives and deciding when to seek to influence improved stakeholder decision making by tabling topics for discussion and presenting relevant data.
  • Determining when a business concept has sufficient business backing, priority, scope detail, and feasibility to be tabled for IT consideration.
  • Presenting proposals to committees.
  • Synthesizing a comprehensive tactical list of stakeholder’s initiatives and concepts being explored.
  • Promoting business projects into the IT project intake channel at the appropriate stage.


Collecting IT Strategy Performance Data:


  • Ensuring that the IT and business strategy expectations are pragmatic based on available information.
  • Providing reporting of strategic area performance metrics for IT management decision making.
  • Administration of a standardized assessment framework to determine stakeholder and line of business sentiment regarding IT service performance and strategy.


Qualifications:
Education, Training and Experience:
  • History of creating and developing business relationships.
  • Background in business analysis.
  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree in Information Technology/Systems or Business or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least ten years of combined experience with two or more of the following: Business Analysis, IT Program Coordination, IT Project Management, IT Client Relationship Management, Business Process Modelling, IT Architectures, or Enterprise Application Development.
