Job Description

Lithion has developed and commercializes a process to recover lithium-ion batteries (found in electric cars, rechargeable tools electronic equipment and other items). We aim to be a leader in an industry where sustainable solutions are currently few and far between. We want to transform what is considered waste today into strategic materials that can be put back into the value chain and thus support the circular economy in Quebec and around the world.


Business Development Manager, Battery Feedstock


Reporting to the Growth & Business Development Director, you will be responsible for developing new business opportunities related to battery recycling suppliers and strategic partnership. You will be a key player to analyze market trends, mitigate risks and contribute to the overall growth and success of Lithion.


Main responsibilities:


  • Car dealers and manufacturers
  • Work closely with suppliers to develop volume incentives, pricing mechanism and grow a monthly portfolio of batteries directed to recycling;
  • Repair shops for tools using lithium-ion batteries
  • Automotive recyclers
  • Electronics recyclers
  • Perform any other related duties as required within the team.
  • Develop and negotiate commercial agreements with feedstock suppliers, including:
  • Big box stores
  • Work closely with suppliers to build trust, secure repeat business, and meet the supply needs of the Lithion recycling plant;
  • Other sources
  • Auto wreckers
  • Work with transportation and logistics suppliers to optimize end-of-life management cost;
  • Work closely with the vice president and general manager and the director of operations of the Lithion recycling plant (functional link);
  • Play a leading role in the supply of lithium-ion batteries for recycling;


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Business, procurement, and/or technical training
  • High level of energy, determination, resistance to stress and pressure
  • Outstanding communicator and excellent interpersonal skills
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar position
  • Good analytical and negotiation skills
  • Position based in the United States, working from home
  • Knowledge of French an asset
  • Available to travel nationally and internationally (minimum 25% of the time)
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Great sense of initiative, organization and willingness to achieve objectives
  • Excellent teamwork skills
  • Familiar with the use of a CRM system
  • Knowledge and established contacts in the lithium-ion battery recycling market, automobile manufacturers and/or the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries and their inputs
  • Dynamic, committed, and creative
  • Strategic thinking and priority management
