Business Analyst - Technical

Your Opportunity:

You are a highly-motivated technical Business Analyst who is client-focused and committed to quality service. You will apply your technical acumen and a structured business analysis approach in working with business and IT stakeholders to elicit complex technical requirements and recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. Partnering with other IT roles, you will work as a liaison among stakeholders to understand organizational needs, and use effective business analysis techniques and workflow to define both the current and future state, and recommend the most effective solution. The position works to ensure Alberta Health Services values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of IT services. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Facilitating stakeholder engagement to gather requirements, perform gap analyses and identify opportunities for improvement. Requirements elicitation, analysis, and documentation. Run queries and scripts within technology tools and perform complex data manipulation, analysis and reporting. Assessing and modeling current state and future state business processes. Coordinating the development of use cases, along with user acceptance testing and requirements delivery validation activities. Working as an effective part of a project or operational implementation team, taking on addition team duties as required to meet the goals of the initiative. Support post-project activities that evaluate the effectiveness of solutions and drive improvements based on lessons learned.

Description:

As a Business Analyst, you will work as a liaison among stakeholders in order to understand the structure, policies and operations of an organization, and to recommend solutions that enable the organization to achieve its goals. You will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests, provide advice and direction to clients, and contribute to solutions by providing input into strategy, workflows and delivery for assigned projects and programs.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field, or equivalent level of education and experience.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in business analysis or a related discipline (organizational change management, project management, data visualization, etc.). Experience in using common applications such as MS-Office tools (Word, PowerPoint, Visio, SharePoint, Teams). Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required. Good facilitation and written/verbal communication skills; experience in a variety of stakeholder engagement techniques. Solid requirements documentation skills and data analysis, with proven ability to critically evaluate information gathered from multiple sources, and convey information effectively. Understanding of business process design, modeling and visualization. Experience in problem solving, negotiation, concerns/conflict resolution and investigation.

Preferred Qualifications:

Solid technical acumen/literacy or experience on technical projects is preferred. Experience in health care and/or IT technology teams. Experience developing queries, scripts and/or reports. Power BI is an asset. Experience using Microsoft 365, including powerapps.
