Job Description

AR Thomson is a Canadian Fluid Control and Containment company and has been in business for over 5 decades.


We are one of the largest sellers of Steam equipment ( steam traps, CRU's and APT's) for Western Canada. We represent Spirax Sarco in Western Canada. Over the last couple of years we have experienced phenomenal growth and we want to maintain the growth in revenue and servicability.


To further fuel our growth, we are on the look out for a Technical Sales Specialist for Steam Business Group.


Responsibilities:


A Technical Sales Specialist – Steam Business Unit shall provide assistance and support besides formulating short term and long term strategies for Steam Business Unit Growth. He/she shall be instrumental in working with the Sales Team for Steam Products and Steam packages.


Some of the responsibilities that come with the role are:

●Making Calls to End Users, EPC’s with Sales Team, Providing assistance to customers and educating them.

●Imparting Product Knowledge and training to customers and the sales team

●Developing and monitoring Key performance indicators for growth.

●Managing sales tracking tools and reporting on important information

●Keeping record of sales trends and looking at avenues for growth.

●Reporting to the Business Managers and budgeting for sales, service, training, and inventory management.

●Staying up-to-date with new product and feature launches and ensuring sales team is on board

●Reviewing orders and specific customers requests to ensure excellent customer service & experience


A technical sales specialist for steam must have knowledge on the technical side of Boiler, Condensate recovery, Deaerators, Desuperheaters, Thermocompressors etc. and other equipment that goes into several areas of a steam cycle and working.


Qualifications

  • Having an experience in Valves, Process /Control Knowedge of Valves etc. could also be considered.
  • An Engineering Degree - such as CET, B. Eng, B. Tech, C.Tech, EIT or a Power Engineer 5th or 4th Class with a strong flair for customer service and interaction would be ideal.
  • Candidates with a background in steam equipment, Tech. Diplomas and Skill sets that can be directly attributed to the steam cycle could also be considered.


Skill Sets:


●Technical skills: Should have extensive knowledge of Steam Products and services offered in Steam Vertical. Should be able to understand and explain technical concepts to customers and sales team members .

●Sales skills:Should have strong sales and application Knowledge, such as identifying and generating leads. They should also be able to create and deliver effective sales presentations and proposals .

●Customer service: The ideal candidate for this vertical should have excellent customer service skills, such as listening to customer needs, providing troubleshooting assistance, answering questions, resolving issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. They should also be able to build and maintain positive customer relationships.

●Communication skills: Should have strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Should be able to communicate clearly and with customers, sales team members, account managers, and other stakeholders. They should also be able to write reports and proposals for vendors or clients related to technical products .

●Analytical skills: Should have good analytical skills, such as researching the current market trends, learning about new technology products, assessing customer needs, and recommending the most suitable products or services. They should also be able to develop and monitor performance indicators and track sales data .

●Teamwork skills: Should have good teamwork skills, such as collaborating with sales team members, account managers, and other departments to develop specific sales strategies and achieve business goals. They should also be able to share information and feedback with their colleagues .

●Self-confidence: The candidate should exhibit strong business acumen and exude confidence, help others overcome challenges. They should also be able to demonstrate their expertise and credibility to their customers and sales team members .

●Travel: May need to travel frequently to meet vendors or customers or to lead instructional demonstrations for a product. They may also be ready to work long hours to meet deadlines and keep pace with our growth.
