Bridge Engineer/Project Manager

Our Ontario offices of St. Catharines, Markham, Whitby, Waterloo, and Mississauga are looking for a Senior Bridge Engineer/Project Manager ready to join our growing Canadian Operations within the Transportation Group.

The Bridge and Transportation Group within GHD Canada works with Provincial, Regional, and local municipal agencies, as well as select contracting partners, on large-scale projects across the whole Transportation spectrum of highways, roads, and bridges. Our team provides full-service bridge engineering from project planning, conceptual design, lifecycle cost analysis, load evaluation, environmental assessment, preliminary design, detailed design, construction administration/inspection, and asset management support.

Candidates’ career path:

• This role is intended for a Senior Project Engineer/ Project Manager interested in the continuation or advancement of their career in the design and management of large transportation infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities:

• Providing technical leadership and mentorship to intermediate and junior staff
• Successful participation in, and completion of multi-disciplined bridge projects, rail bridges, and complex design
• Collaboration in small and large teams. Leading the integration with other engineering disciplines, engineers, and design staff in the production of high-quality project deliverables
• Maintaining contact with sub-consultants, municipalities, utility companies, and clients
• Preparation of reports, and contract documents for review agencies, clients, and the public
• Working within various procurement models and roles.
• Production of conceptual design, detailed design, technical specifications, cost, and schedule estimating
• Exposure to project planning, development, and monitoring of project schedules, and budgets

Skills and Qualifications:

• Bilingualism in English and French is considered an asset
• Experience and understanding of conventional delivery and alternative delivery methodology.
• Ontario P.Eng. designation required
• Metrolinx and AREMA experience
• 12+ years of experience in design and engineering of bridge projects.
• Experience in managing/mentoring or leading a group is considered an asset
• Familiarity with the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code (CHBDC), Ontario design standards (i.e. OPSS), and client specific standards and requirements (i.e. MTO)
• CN Rail, CP Rail, and MTO experience are considered an asset
