Job Description

Our private-sector client, one of the country's largest associations of CPA firms, is looking for a Bilingual Accounting Technician to join their growing team in Ottawa, ON. This is an on-site, permanent position.


About the role

The successful candidate will:

  • Prepare payroll and related filings
  • Provide assistance and support to clients on bookkeeping and/or software issues
  • Prepare T4, T5, HST, EHT & WSIB returns
  • Prepare year-end files for accountants
  • Complete monthly and quarterly bookkeeping assignments from client-supplied records


About you

  • Experienced in Quickbooks Desktop and Quickbooks
  • Prior work experience in the completion of T4, T5, HST, EHT & WSIB returns
  • Have prior experience with payroll, including taxable benefits and required remittances
  • Make sound judgement regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • 1+ year of public accounting experience with a small to mid-sized business or professional firm
  • Experience with other software, including Excel, and Sage50. Experience with Caseware would be an asset
  • Have a strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as a team
  • Strong understanding of a client-focused environment, including related deadlines and the ability to work to meet those deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
  • Experience with migration to QBO is a plus
