Job Description

OPPORTUNITY

To accommodate our continued growth and success, we are seeking the role of a full-time individual with previous securities industry accounting experience. This position involves assisting with various financial tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations with supporting schedules.
  • Prepare monthly actual vs. budget analyses and explain trends/variances.
  • Assist with the enhancement of the accounting software system.
  • Perform monthly general ledger closing and prepare for internal and external reporting.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Assist with the bi-weekly payroll process.
  • Review, prepare, and post monthly journal entries including working with other teams to ensure completeness and accuracy of accruals.
  • Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting activities to ensure compliance with CIRO, internal policies, and financial reporting requirements.
  • Drive process improvement and system implementation efforts to streamline operations and improve the quality of the close process and internal control.


REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Basic analytical skills to assist with financial analysis tasks.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles and financial concepts.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Office Suite skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record keeping.
  • 2-3 years of experience working in Accounting.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Discretion in handling confidential financial information.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.


ASSETS:

  • Fluently bilingual - English/French.
  • Expertise in securities industry accounting.
  • Quickbooks online Software knowledge.
  • CPA designation.
