Automation Analyst Jobs

During his contractual mandate, the automation analyst will provide support for capitalizable projects by providing on-site technical support for all applications and all computer hardware related to the processes of the Deschambault aluminum smelter as well as to the Information Technology group. and Automation Solutions (ITAS) from Alcoa. This item includes all process applications, instrumentation, and their associated software/components, such as variable frequency drives.

The holder of this mandate will also have to participate in the resolution of breakdowns and problems affecting the automation of processes and associated applications in order to minimize downtime, resume production as quickly as possible, as well as contribute to continuous improvement of our internal processes.

During his mandate, the analyst will coordinate the following activities:

· Provide development and support services for the commissioning of instrumentation and control equipment, as well as for the resolution of problems associated with this equipment.

· Deploy updates to computers connected to process control.

· Participate in the development of solutions to improve operational efficiency aimed at increasing the availability and reliability of equipment by using appropriate instrumentation and control strategies, while reducing associated costs.

· Establish and maintain a development environment for the purpose of testing changes and gaining approval from area managers before any changes are released into production.

· Document and maintain design standards for all application codes.

· Meet the responsibilities defined in the ASAT protocol (Alcoa Self Assessment Tool) in order to minimize the risk and improve the integrity of the systems on the hardware, software and code side.

· Make sure to comply with the policies of the corporation, both practical, related to occupational health and safety, as well as the various guides or procedures.

· Monitor and improve the various processes, procedures and equipment related to capitalizable projects in order to eliminate or minimize environmental impacts with the aim of having no incidents.

Education:

· Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, automated production engineering and 5 years of relevant experience.

· Or combination of a DEC in a relevant field and several years of experience in equivalent functions.

Language :

· French

· Functional oral and written English

Other skills required:

Good knowledge of Allen-Bradley PLCs such as ControlLogix and GuardLogix

Good knowledge of machine safety and associated standards

Knowledge of GE 90-70 type automatons

Knowledge of Emerson RX3i type PLCs

Knowledge of Ethernet/IP, Profinet and Modbus TCP communication protocols

· Significant experience with different programmable logic controllers, HMI, SCADA, instrumentation, PI software (historian), as well as with different network components and related interfaces

Knowledge of production networking systems

Knowledge of databases and SQL language

Autonomy and sense of responsibility

· Orientation service client

Ability to work remotely (troubleshooting only)

Availability to work at the Deschambault smelter site for all hours worked during the mandate (apart from remote troubleshooting)

· Ability to manage change
