What You Will Do
Working with a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals the incumbent, under the direction of the Manager of Student Athletic Therapy and Wellness provides athletic therapy expertise and therapeutic skills to Humber College varsity athletes. The incumbent will support the development, organization and implementation of the day-to-day athletic
therapy operations which includes, but is not limited to;

• Maintains medical treatment records in accordance with the policy of the Varsity Athletic Therapy Clinic and the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association
• Monitoring and tracking the therapy budget in consultation with athletic administration
• Coordination of day-to-day clinic operations
• Assisting in the development of the risk management procedures for the department
• Collaboration with related programs on campus
• Maintaining the general upkeep of the clinic modalities and exercise equipment
• Regular and consistent communication with the coaches regarding injuries
• Providing Health education, prevention, immediate care, assessment and rehabilitation for varsity athletes sport related injuries.
• Developing and implementing emergency procedures and care services for the athletic centre
• Providing leadership to student therapists on the treatment(s) of varsity athletes
• Coordinating the purchasing, maintaining, and inventory control of athletic therapy supplies and equipment.
• Providing on-site therapy coverage during special events and home games with potential travel for championships.
• Regular collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals internal and external to the college

What You Bring To The Role
Education

• A 4-year degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education or Athletic Therapy from a recognized institution
• Current First responder certification
• Certification (in good standing) with the Canadian Athletic Therapist Association.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a post-secondary environment, dealing with competitive high impact, multiple sports and activity related injuries

Skills

• Must be able to deal appropriately with a high volume of clients and be able to prioritize duties.
• Must be able to work independently and as a part of a multi-disciplinary team while being sensitive to the diversity of the student body.
• Strong organizational skills; displays a high degree of judgment and analytical decision-making ability and must demonstrate excellent clinical knowledge skills.
