Position Overview


The Pan Am Clinic is currently seeking an Orthopaedic Technologist/ Athletic Therapist for the Minor Injury Clinic. This position will be under the supervision of the Manager of Ambulatory Care.


Experience


  • Advance taping, bandaging and splinting experience.
  • Clinical experience with a variety of patient populations.
  • Familiarity and experience with a variety of “soft goods” applications, adjustments and maintenance.


Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)


  • Certified with the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association (requires a four year BSc degree in Kinesiology and applied health majoring in Athletic Therapy).


Certification/Licensure/Registration


  • Current CPR Certificate.
  • Registered member of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists-Certified or enrolled in the program and completed within two years of working a full time EFT.
  • Member in good standing with both the Canadian Athletic Therapists Association, and Manitoba Athletic Therapists Association.
  • CATA, CSOT


Qualifications And Skills


  • Able to assist the Minor Injury Clinic physician as directed.
  • Team concept skills in a multidisciplinary medical environment.
  • Ability to assist in the supervision and education of medical therapy, nursing and other students.
  • Excellent patient rapport.
  • Acute Care proficiency.
  • Proficiency in evaluation, rehabilitation and education of orthopedic musculoskeletal injuries.


Physical Requirements


  • Must be able to stand or walk for long periods of time and do heavy lifting.


This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
