Upper Canada Growers Ltd. (UCG) is the largest fruit tree nursery in Canada. UCG is located in Harrow,

Ontario and specializes in apples, peaches, and grapes, all propagated from tissue culture. Fruit trees

and vines propagated from tissue culture are the cleanest available for growers. These plants grow to be

more superior than plants grown by traditional methods. The vigour, disease resistance, yields and

quality of the fruit far exceed plants grown by traditional propagation methods.

Key Responsibilities:

UCG is seeking an assistant agronomist to support in plant and soil sample collection, plant

counts, plant measurements, crop scouting, GPS mapping, and completing reports based on

field observations.

Candidates will possess or be willing to achieve the following qualifications:

• Pesticide applicator license and the ability to operate farm equipment are an asset, but not

required.

• Must have the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (i.e., heat, rain, etc.) with

moderate physical activity involved, including walking through fields for long periods of time.

• Preferred candidate enrolled in a college or university agricultural program (preferably

horticulture, agronomy and/or soil science).

• Must have a valid driver’s license, and willing to travel to rural locations.
• Must be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protections have

been conferred, and is legally entitled to work in Canada.
