Job Description
Join the Royal Ontario Museum team this summer as an Archaeology Cataloging Assistant and help preserve cultural heritage by identifying and cataloging archaeological objects. With a passion for history and cultural heritage, you'll work closely with museum archaeologists to ensure the accuracy and consistency of cataloging work and make object information easily accessible to stakeholders worldwide.


Location: Toronto, ON, Canada


Contract (May 15, 2023 – September 4, 2023)


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate with museum archaeologists to ensure the accuracy and consistency of cataloging work.
  • Identify and catalogue archaeological objects to help preserve cultural heritage.
  • Add object information to a collection management database to make it accessible to stakeholders worldwide.
  • Share your work on the museum's online collections website, reaching a global audience.
  • Use digital imaging hardware and software to create high-quality images of objects for documentation and sharing.


Qualifications:


  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills to meet project deadlines and goals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, collaborating with museum archaeologists to achieve project objectives.
  • Available to work full-time for the duration of the project.
  • Experience or familiarity with databases and digital imaging is preferred but not required.
  • Currently enrolled in an archaeology, anthropology, or related degree program.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring the cataloged objects are documented correctly.
