Job Summary:
ERCO Worldwide is looking for an Asset Manager to join our Toronto Logistics team. They will manage ERCO railcar assets of 1800 leased and owned railcars, including all aspects of acquisition, release, attrition, maintenance, empty freight, storage, switching, and service contracts. They must be familiar with regulatory issues impacting the fleet and ERCO's ability to do business. They will manage asset requirements based on new regulatory guidelines as well as business requirements established by sales and marketing. The individual will be required to prepare and manage the annual budget.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Fleet sizing: Optimize fleet using annual and quarterly review of fleet requirements based on production, sales and inventory requirements.
- Manage contracts and agreements: Railcar leases, master service agreements, storage, switching, and service contracts for railcar tracking, reporting and maintenance management
- Rail fleet acquisition: Negotiate lease rates, term, purchase costs with established industry contacts for new and used railcar
- Lead railcar innovation: Work with R&D, engineering, railcar owners, rail industry, and suppliers to advance safety, innovation, materials of construction, durability and efficiency in railcar design. Manage and maintain ERCO’s railcar specifications, reliability analysis and Quality Manual.
- Rail fleet maintenance: Manage process for annual regulatory/non-regulatory railcar shopping while ensuring enough equipment for plant operation and that maintenance is completed on time. Move railcars between plants as required. Manage railcar spare parts and inventory process and initiate purchase orders. Knowledgeable of regulations that impact ERCO’s fleet and ability to do business. Attend and participate on industry committees and task groups
- Annual budget, monthly variance reporting, cost reallocation, key performance measures: Preparation of annual leasing, maintenance, empty freight, storage, switching, and service contracts, including quarterly updates and monthly variance reporting. Invoice approval and processing. Monthly lease cost reallocation by product and company. Monthly key performance indicators.
Key Attributes & Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and passport for travel
- Strong communication and presentation skills, conflict resolution, budgeting, cost control, time management
- Professional Logistics Designation would be an asset
- Bachelor of Business and/or Engineering would be an asset
- College Diploma in Mechanical Design, Supply Chain or Business is Preferred
- 3-6 years of asset management, business, and mechanical design
