Some Of What You Will Do
  • This position will support Asset Protection initiatives and programs in Retail and SBA at a facility level in the assigned area. Partner and work alongside store teams including the GM, DM and RVP, and the location teams including supervisors, managers, FC Director, etc. to increase the Loss Prevention knowledge and culture within the region, playing a key role in educating and training others in Loss Prevention and Asset Protection best practices and processes. Looks for ways to drive business profitability through process improvement and efficiencies. Significant travel is required to stores and facilities to monitor and check in on operational excellence process’ and procedures, conduct investigations, attend meetings, etc.

Specifically, You Will
  • Partners with GM, DM and RVP to ensure maximum profitability of Retail store program
  • Participates in external AP groups sharing learnings and best practices and communicates information back to team as required.
  • Oversees the operation of contractual security guard services in .CA and SBA Fulfillment Centers and Distribution centres to ensure safe and secure operation of all facilities.
  • Supports programs designed to reduce and control fraud through Direct and Internet (.CA) channels on a facility level. Monitors fraud prevention measures and executes fraud investigations/prosecutions, both internal and external.
  • Participates in and/or conducts investigations as required, in partnership with Manager of Fraud & Investigations.
  • Responsible for managing Asset Protection initiatives and programs in assigned network of stores/facilities.
  • Provide a leadership role in emergency or disaster situations.
  • Teach, coach, train and influence Store Associates, Managers, District Managers, Home Office Departments and non-retail location teams to increase associate awareness of Asset Protection Program, techniques and risks
  • Implements asset protection related solutions through a combination of applications including data analysis, audits, training programs and investigations
  • Ensure that all operational procedures relating to Asset Protection programs are executed by the operations teams through reviewing and analysis of the AP Audit and the Target Program.
  • First point of contact for all Asset Protection Programs for stores, FCs and all other Staples locations within area of responsibility.
  • Coordinates with .CA and SBA FC Operations, Transportation and Customer Service in an effort to minimize chargeback exposure and maximize potential for sales/profit.
  • Ensures compliance to safety training as required. Works with Health and Safety Manager and Senior LP Manager to analyze accident data, develop strategies to address root causes of accidents and ensure the execution of Safety programs.
  • Supports all Loss Prevention security systems for Retail, .CA and SBA locations in respective geographic area, including CCTV, EAS, Access control and burglar alarm protection.
  • Completes LP and H&S audits in designated area, communicates results and conducts follow up as required based on AP strategy.
  • Applies best practices, standards and processes to achieve effective system operations, efficiency and savings.
  • Utilize information gathered from review with AP team and DM/leaders as well as observations from store/location visits to identify and recommend appropriate courses of action to minimize potential threats or risks to the business.
  • Provide regular business updates on Key LP metrics to business partners, including GM, DM, FC Manager and LP Leadership. Updates will include highlights of what is working and insights as to what isn’t working with recommendations for improvement.
  • Ensure Asset Protection vendors are in compliance with Corporate Agreement and meeting expectations set out in the vendor agreement.
Some Of What You Need
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience
  • LPC Preferred
Interview and Interrogation Certified (W/Z certification preferred
  • Computer knowledge and advanced knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and database management
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Operational and AP related policies and procedures.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to translate and relay information in a variety of mediums in consideration of audience.
  • LP specific systems
  • Strong knowledge of asset protection, investigations and safety programs
  • Ability to work independently/remotely and as part of a team
  • 4 to 7 Years Loss Prevention experience and Supervisory responsibilities
  • Understanding of Police Agency and Criminal and Civil Court Operations
  • SPLS systems
  • Thorough knowledge of the Canadian Criminal Code and other governing bodies relevant to role
  • Leadership and partnering abilities
  • Class G driver’s license in good standing and regular access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Documentation of clear criminal history is a requirement.
  • Sound decision making and strong influencing ability
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritize goals
