The opportunity
We are currently seeking an Area Manager to join our Canada Gas Operations team to lead operations in the North Bay Area. The preferred location would be North Bay, Ontario; however we may consider other locations within the Northern Ontario Pipeline area.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager for the ML/TQM Operations Flow-Path, this position is primarily responsible for overseeing the safe, compliant, reliable operations and maintenance of TC Energy’s Gas Assets in the North Bay Area.
Compensation Information: ~$164 000 base salary + 20% bonus and benefits. Depending on qualifications, the successful candidate may be offered a position at a more appropriate level and/or ladder.

What You Will Do

As Area Manager you are responsible to:
  • Ensure that TC Energy has a positive and visible image in the communities within the Area and actively engages with key Stakeholders
  • Understand and manage facility risks, reliability, and performance
  • Provide leadership to continuously improve your teams’ business performance in terms of safety, cost control, reliability, and productivity
  • Manage Operations and Maintenance contracts, understand Commercial Agreements and Asset Management Plans
  • Understand and implement Canada Gas Operations Strategies
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial, and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to operations and maintenance
  • Effectively manage all resources including people, finances, materials, and time to ensure maximum efficiency in planning, forecasting, and implementation
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response with a requirement to be on-call to respond to emergency situations
  • Effectively work and interact with peers to optimize regional results and contribute to company success
  • Actively participate in the development of goals and objectives from the Region to the Area level and lead the efforts to achieve these goals in the Area
  • Develop and foster an environment that actively enables and encourages employee innovation, continuous improvement, and commitment to operational excellence

As a Leader in Field Operations, you will be required to:
  • Continue to develop your leadership competencies while maintaining current knowledge of company business, strategy, goals, and objectives
  • Manage and coordinate emergency response with a requirement to be on call and, to respond to emergency situations
  • Be responsible for staff development and succession planning for your team
  • Provide team members with effective mentoring, feedback, and coaching with appropriate rewards and recognition
  • Travel to various field and office locations across the region to meet with team members and other field staff
  • Build a strong, competent, proactive, and engaged team
As a member of the Leadership Team, you will be required to:
  • Commit to the execution of the Region's business plan
  • Represent TC Energy and foster critical partnerships both internally and externally
  • Participate in CGO (Canada Gas Operations) initiatives and manage issues when required
  • Work collaboratively to establish the Region's strategy, goals, and business plan
  • Be a champion of change initiatives

Minimum Qualifications
  • 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving tools and processes
  • Post-Secondary education in a relevant field of study
  • An excellent record of accomplishing development and execution of plans
  • Proven experience in effective resource allocation and utilization in the financial, people, and procurement areas
  • Leadership in the health, safety, and environment, change management, employee development, performance management, and team building areas

Preferred Qualifications
  • Related experience preferably in a managerial or leadership typesetting
  • Knowledge of TC Energy's Leadership competencies and a commitment to career development
  • Knowledge and familiarity with TC Energy's business vision, strategies, practices, processes, and systems

This position requires candidates to:
  • This will involve some overnight stays away from home base (estimated up to 50% of work schedule) and will include living in and maintaining company camps or housing
  • Successfully complete pre-employment medical screening including drug and alcohol testing
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (a record) for review
