The practice covers the complete energy value chain and advises policymakers, investors, and energy market leaders on the most relevant topics of the industry
  • The Center of Emissions Excellence works across Commodity Insights to support and advance the development of emission modeling capability.
The Impact: This is a critical role in advancing our GHG and carbon intensity estimation and our understanding and capability in carbon accounting—from upstream emission models to downstream refining or petrochemical emissions. Become part of the teams that are helping to shape the tools and methods to answer critical market questions on GHG emissions and carbon reduction.
What’s In It For You
  • Work, learn, and contribute to entirely new understandings of commodity-related emissions on top of some of the world’s largest and most comprehensive data sets that span across sectors and through value chains.
  • Collaborate with various sectoral experts to develop tools to better understand where, why, and how, emissions occur and what can be done about them.
  • Work with a dynamic team of experts tackling the most critical GHG estimation and decarbonization challenges in the world today.
  • Help advance global understanding of commodity-related emissions, and decarbonization pathways.
Responsibilities
  • Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders to communicate findings, collaborate on key initiatives, and facilitate the development of project/initiative deliverables
  • Provide thought leadership and engage in conversations around best practices on emission estimation and quantification.
  • Contribute to written reports, detail estimates, and respond to critical client inquiries related to the energy transition
  • Work as part of cross functional team of experts who are tasked with answering key challenges around estimating and abating emissions.
  • Research topics will encompass broad aspects of processes, industry, commodities, and products across the energy value chain.
What We’re Looking For
  • Requires verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills at all levels of business to enable effective/productive communications with key people including clients
  • Programming languages like Python are a strong plus.
  • Greenhouse gas (GHG) estimation and/or life-cycle accounting knowledge/work experience is required. Demonstrated understanding of fundamental life-cycle GHG accounting practices as well as an understanding of potential GHG emission sources from various commodity sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and ability to navigate and excel in a complex, matrix organization, and relate successfully to a variety of people externally and internally.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, environmental science, or industry-related fields is required; a graduate degree is preferred.
  • Understanding of different energy supply chains and commodities such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, hydrogen, biofuels, metals and mining, etc.
  • Able to work with large datasets with strong skills in Microsoft Excel, databases, and various cloud-based platforms.
