Analyst, It Controls Jobs

One of our major clients in the oil and gas industry is seeking an IT Internal Controls Analyst to work within their facilities in Calgary or Sarnia, on a 7-month contract. The IT Internal Controls Analyst will collaborate with individuals and teams across the organization to understand and assess IT systems, processes, and controls and their impact on financial reporting. This role contributes to the annual assessment of the Client’s internal controls over financial reporting and compliance with regulatory and governing body requirements specific to the Client’s presentation of financial information.

Responsibilities: Use theoretical knowledge and practical experience to understand complex IT processes and controls. Independently execute control design and operating effectiveness tests that will be relied on by the Client’s external audit partners for opening purposes for new and existing applications. Apply critical thinking skills to analyze control testing issues/exceptions (e.g., assess significance and reporting requirements, perform root cause analysis, etc.) then independently develop recommendations and facilitate / monitor remediation of control deficiencies. Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships within the Compliance & Controls team as well as with stakeholders that impact the Client’s internal controls and financial reporting. Leverage people skills and expertise in internal controls to engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Perform other related special studies or projects as assigned.

Qualifications: University/college graduate in Accounting, Finance, Business, or IT or equivalent with 8+ years of direct relevant experience. Note: preference given to candidates having achieved relevant designation programs (e.g. CIA, CISA, CPA, etc.). Accounting firm and/or corporate internal audit function experience focused on SOX, ICFR, and internal control design and operations, with a specific focus on IT general controls, application controls, and interface control testing in ERP and SaaS systems. Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of processes, risks, and controls principles (e.g., COSO 2013, SOX, COBIT, NIST, etc) . Experience with ERP and SaaS systems such as SAP, BPC, Nakisa, SailPoint Identity, IntelliTrans, Ariba. Knowledge of operating systems (UNIX, Windows, Linux etc.), of database management systems (HANA, SQL Server). Highly organized, motivated, detail-oriented with the ability to work independently. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
