The opportunity
Our Rates & Services West team continues to play an integral role in supporting our Canada Gas business and we are adding to our team in Calgary. In this position you will have the opportunity to gain a broad knowledge of TC Energy Commercial business through involvement with the development and pricing of transportation services related to TC Energy's wholly-owned pipeline systems in western Canada.
We are seeking a motivated Rates and Financial Analyst who has knowledge and experience in analytical and financial modeling. This individual has the proven skills, competencies and capacity to learn the rate-regulated pipeline transmission business and commercial framework to help optimize our assets.

• Role will report to the Manager of the Rates & Services West
• Work collaboratively with team members and business partners to support commercial objectives of Canada Gas
• Project work and related analysis will include supporting the calculation of transportation rates, forecasts and ad-hoc commercial and financial information associated with rate design and services for the NOVA Gas Transition Ltd. (NGTL) and Foothills pipeline systems

What You’ll Do

• Provide support for regulatory filings and industry committee initiatives
• Other tasks as required.
• Develop and maintain toll design, cost of service, and pipeline financial models
• Become a subject matter expert (SME) in the regulated business model Canada Gas pipelines operate;
• Independently perform cost of service, rates calculations and associated service analysis
• Support the overall Commercial team in optimization and competitiveness initiatives, and the development of rate designs and associated services
• Be responsible for the maintenance of the Rates database on a monthly basis and develop enhancements as required
• Work closely with business unit members and other internal partners to understand project requests and/or analysis and to validate and refine modeling assumptions and results
• Effectively operate in a growing and changing environment under tight deadlines
• Prepare reports and present analysis (including assumptions, methodology, impacts and overall results) to senior leadership

Minimum Qualifications

• Experience working with complex financial/economic models is required
• Knowledge of revenue / cost modeling and economic evaluations
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Economics, Commerce/Business or related field
• Minimum 4 years of related and progressive industry/business experience
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
• Proficient in full suite of Microsoft Office products and strong Microsoft Excel modeling abilities is of particular importance (i.e. ability to manipulate large volumes of data, efficiently manage model enhancements for scenario analysis and effectively maintain spreadsheet models that are relevant to the current business environment)
• Ability to work effectively, both independently and in teams, and to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships
• Strong interpersonal, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Detail oriented with strong time management, planning and organizational skills
• Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem identification and solution recommendations
• Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis, with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
• Exposure to accounting concepts such as depreciation; and with an understanding of fundamental principles of finance and/or economics and their applications to business situations.
• Familiarity with regulatory processes and rate design concepts
• Familiarity with the regulated pipeline model
• Knowledge of Power BI and management information systems to support the Rates database
