IT System Administrator
Who we are:
IRISNDT has been serving the oil and gas, petroleum and petrochemical, chemical, power generation, pipeline and potash industries since 1953.
Our Canadian operations currently provide services from Edmonton, Calgary, Cold Lake, Fort McMurray, Grand Prairie, Lloydminster, Nisku, and Red Deer. Our USA operations provide services from 23 office locations, our United Kingdom operations provide services from 7 office locations, and our Australian operations provide services from 5 locations.

Job Duties
- Responsibility for managing, owning, and resolving issues from start through to completion.
- Assisting with managing, maintaining, and overseeing global infrastructure, which encompasses numerous aspects that include but are not limited to: networking infrastructure (firewalls/switches/satellite, LTE appliances), physical infrastructure (physical servers and appliances), virtual infrastructure (virtual machines), telephony (Avaya Phone System), and Microsoft Azure infrastructure.
- After hours, weekend, and extended hours will be required as demand dictates.
- Assisting all other members of the global IT team, including large IT projects, and performing routine & administrative tasks including but not limited to inventory management, systems monitoring, infrastructure clean-up and organization, and documentation.
- Properly identifying, researching, and resolving technical problems for remote customers and infrastructure systems
- Providing prompt, professional, and courteous service by answering incoming phone calls, e-mails, ticket system requests, and providing remote support for global IT & technology related issues.
- Travelling between various client sites and IRISNDT offices as and when required (regular/weekly/bi-weekly overnight and multiple day trips required)
Job Requirements and Experience
- Basic networking understanding (e.g., subnets, VLANs, VIPs, and OSI model).
- Basic server administration understanding (e.g., Windows Firewall, IP allocation and assignment, Windows Updates, routine maintenance/optimization, etc.).
- Able to lift 50+ lbs.
- General hardware, software, and telephony installation and servicing.
- Advanced networking understanding preferred (e.g., switch management, virtualized networking and VLANs, virtualized firewall deployments, IPsec VPN, wireless access point deployment and configuration, etc.).
- Able to pass a background check.
- Pre-employment background checks will be required.
- Valid Driver’s License and pre-access drug and alcohol testing required.
- Microsoft Azure experience with an emphasis on cloud-based virtualization and networking preferred.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Health benefits that meet or exceed industry standards will be provided after a 3-month probationary period.
Legal entitlement to work in Canada is mandatory. All potential employees will be required to complete a pre-employment fitness examination and an alcohol and drug screening.
