Description

Michels Canada is looking for a Junior Project Controls Analyst!

Have you recently graduated from a Civil Engineering degree, and have your future career goals set on Project Management? This opportunity is a fantastic developmental opportunity for someone breaking into the construction industry! Learn and contribute to the financial aspects of project management, scheduling and building and mastering a solid range of foundational skills in a practical and challenging work environment.

This exciting opportunity will be based out of our newest office, located in Nisku, AB.

Responsibilities

• Review and code internal time sheets, supplier PO and invoices, and subcontract LEMs if required.
• Understand the Prime Contract invoicing requirements. Maintain required billing backups. Prepare monthly invoice package for approval by Project Manager.
• Work with vendors and suppliers to make sure Michels Canada invoicing standard requirements are met.
• Review Prime Contract and other related documentation to fully understand project scope of work and be familiar with cost items and contract invoicing requirements and billing schedules.
• Maintain commercial change order list and track internal change orders. Reflect them in our cost and revenue forecast accordingly.
• Based on the directions from Project Management Office, build customized, MS Excel based reporting systems to track project incurred costs, project performance measurement, and project forecasting.
• Maintain and promote a strong safety culture for all employees, vendors, and customers and follow all safety policies, procedures and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions
• Other duties as assigned
• Key gatekeeper for the project field cost coding system. Make sure field cost is coded properly and consistently against established project budget breakdowns.
• Support project team in the administration of subcontracts and other project contractual requirements.

Requirements

• 6 months minimum experience in related engineering or project accountant/cost control related position or project scheduling

Desired Skills/Qualifications

• Basic understanding of Engineering, Procurement, Construction processes.
• Some basic knowledge of company ERP systems, and/or scheduling applications would be beneficial.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, or other relevant construction backgrounds are preferred.

LANGUAGES

• Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate in English.
