AltaGas - Butane Marketing Analyst

Reporting to the Director, Butane Marketing, you will be joining a team that is focused on growing a profitable wholesale Butane marketing business, providing value to our current customers, identifying new opportunities, and collaborating successfully with other groups in the company. This person will require strong analytical, critical thinking, and organizational skills

You Will:

• Work with internal stakeholders such as Logistics, Finance, and Operations to optimize and reduce transportation and operating costs, where possible, and ensure accurate invoicing
• Maintain a strong understanding of current news and events that affect natural gas liquids and their potential impacts on the butane business, and the fundamentals that impact the pricing relationships of crude, normal butane, isobutane, olefins, and gasoline
• Work with a high performing team of marketers, analysts, and schedulers to optimize C4 supply into various downstream sales throughout North America
• Liaise with various internal and external groups to manage all routine day to day inquiries, including truck, pipe and rail nominations and freight rate requests
• Assure commodity price and risk management requirements are understood and addressed
• Regularly update supply forecasts, pricing, and sales profiles in the Butane Supply and Demand model and pricing files to assist traders in real time decision making and reporting
• Assist team with physical butane downstream sales planning, monitor execution of sales, and balancing with counterparties

You Have:

• Superior oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail, proven ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet critical deadlines
• 1-3 years of experience in the energy industry, preferably with knowledge of butane markets
• Relevant degree in Commerce, Economics, Finance, or Engineering
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Advanced skills in Microsoft 365, including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
