Job Description
Contracts Analyst – US and Canada
Calgary, AB
Job Summary
The Contracts Analyst is primarily responsible for SLB’s wellsite subcontracts and supplier contracts for the North American (US and Canada) market and may also provide support for SLB’s customer contracts from time to time. The Contracts Analyst provides support to SLB’s Legal Department and Sourcing & Procurement teams to handle SLB’s supplier contracts, under the supervision of the Contracts Team Lead or Contracts Manager for the US and Canada GeoUnits.
Responsibilities
  • Manages and administers contract-related records in the relevant contracts database; maintains Contracts files; accountable for contract database data integrity in the US and Canada GeoUnits.
  • Supports the supplier contracts process from the moment of tender evaluation, actively participates in all aspects of post award contract management reviews, through closure of the contract.
  • Identifies and proposes improvements to existing contract management procedures.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Documents lessons learned for sharing within the organization.
  • Collaborates with the Legal Department in the performance of Operations Assurance Reviews when requested.
  • Participates in presentations and workshops related to contracts risks and related company standards, processes and/or reviews.
  • Assists the Contracts Manager / Contracts Team Lead, Legal Support Centre as required.
  • Drafts, reviews, proposes revisions, and negotiates contracts with SLB’s suppliers for the provision of products and/or services.
  • Generates contracts reports as needed and actively participates in all aspects of post-award contract management, including regularly monitoring active and expiring contracts.
  • Participates in the Legal Department training and development initiatives and completes all assigned training.
  • Promotes and ensures compliance with SLB’s policies, standards, procedures, and contractual obligations.
Experience / Education
  • Energy industry experience preferred, but not required.
  • Contract negotiation experience, supply or client contracts.
  • In-house or law firm experience preferred, but not required.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant work experience in the area of commercial contracts.
  • Degree in Law, Finance, Contracts Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business Administration, or equivalent discipline.
Qualifications / Skills
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in Canada, without sponsorship.
  • Ability to demonstrate principled leadership with sound business ethics and consistency with principles, values, and behavior.
  • Ability to work flexibly and independently on complex direct and indirect supplier contracts.
  • Business acumen with a solution-oriented and collaborative approach.
  • Ability to act independently, handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
