Accountant, Affiliate Reporting Jobs

ATCO has an exciting opportunity for a designated Accountant on our Affiliate Reporting team. Working closely with our Supervisor, Affiliate Reporting, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to use their exceptional analytical skills while collaborating with individuals and teams from a variety of departments throughout ATCO. If you enjoy taking large amounts of data from a variety of sources, finding variances and reconciling the information, this is for you. This role also involves the creation and distribution of reporting outputs and will involve a high level of discretion, sound judgement, and the ability to build meaningful relationships that resonate.

What you get to do:

• Collaborate with teams and individuals across multiple departments and organizations within ATCO to identify variances and build solutions to solve the root causes of these variances
• Remain engaged with, and current on, regulatory requirements that impact ATCO and its partners
• Build trusting relationships with individuals across a variety of departments and divisions of ATCO to both receive and relay information in an effective, timely manner
• Collect, capture, and reconcile large amounts of data from a variety of sources and create report-style outputs
• Review O&M (Operations & Maintenance) transactions and supporting documents and confirm the validity of the information being presented
• Support the Supervisor, Affiliate Reporting by clearly communicating project updates and action items consistent with the goals of the Affiliate Reporting group
• Report discrepancies and variances in a timely manner

Qualifications:

• Experience with O&M (Operations & Maintenance) accounting processes
• A Professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA, CGA, CA) is required. Applicants will be evaluated based on their level of experience
• Demonstrated initiative, ability to overcome challenges, and the ability to thrive while working independently.
• Experience with Oracle with an emphasis on reporting functions is preferred
• Intermediate Microsoft Office proficiency
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with individuals in a variety of roles, and from various backgrounds
• Ability to establish meaningful, collaborative working relationships that resonate across various teams and work groups
• Previous experience in a regulatory environment or in the Utilities sector is considered an asset
• Process development experience is preferred
• Education or experience in Change Management or Project Management is preferred, but is not required
• Curiosity – the successful applicant will be tasked with gathering information in a fluid and rapidly evolving environment
• A minimum of 5 years of accounting, regulatory or auditing experience
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel
