The Opportunity
This position reports to the Manager, Financial Reporting with working level supervision provided by the Coordinator – Internal Reporting and Coordinator – External Reporting.
As a member of the Financial Reporting team, this position assists in the preparation of accurate financial information and activities that support the communication of accurate and timely financial results of TC Energy and TransCanada PipeLines Limited.

What you’ll do:

• Reconcile and prepare working paper support for Employee post-retirement benefits and related schedules (provided through the year)
• Proactively analyze financial information and/or accounting processes
• Complete Pension Plan financial statements and Statistics Canada reports
• Contribute in the preparation of the Quarterly and Annual notes to the Consolidated Financial Statements including PP&E, Commitments, Contingencies & Guarantees and Employee post-retirement benefits
• Develop and maintain Excel models used to support accounting, reporting and compliance requirements
• Assist in the quarterly preparation of MD&A and Financial Statement support schedules and coordinate with business units on analysis, including responding to the requirements of external auditors with respect to accounting and reporting issues

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum 6 years of progressive accounting-related experience
• Successful completion of an undergraduate degree from a recognized post-secondary institution
• Designated Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Proven team player, successful in developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships
• Advanced knowledge of Excel, with ability to optimize Excel models
• Strong financial analysis, reporting and communication skills
• Working knowledge of financing arrangements considered an asset
• Keen attention to detail and drive for continuous improvement
• Ability to perform effectively under tight deadlines with multiple priorities and minimal supervision
• Experience working with SAP, BPC, Workiva, SharePoint, Teams and/or Power BI considered an asset
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP or other recognized accounting standards
