Intermediate Staff Accountant Jobs

Minimum 2-4 years of experience in accounting or a related field, or a combination of relevant qualifications and experience.

General support to the Finance function and assist with other general accounting duties as an when required.

Minimum 1 year Canadian payroll experience

Experience in a similar position with general accounting, reconciliations, analysis, reporting, payables, and receivables is essential.

Proven abilities in Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, etc) including the ability to manipulate large volume of data.

Preparing monthly financial statements along with posting journal entries and preparing financial reports for senior management.

Managing the day-to-day accounting duties: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations and Payroll.

Oversight on company costs ensuring correct allocation to each project and inventory control.

Short term budgeting, forecasting and performing variance analysis.

GST & PST filing along with other ad-hoc tasks as requested.

Process discharges of customer accounts in loan management system

Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize demands to meet tight deadlines

Reviewing and verifying coding on all invoices (entered by Accounting Clerk) prior to posting in Sage X3

Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Excel

Experience in Sage X3 and Qlik an asset

Experience with Payroll processing and journal entries

At least 2 years relevant work experience

Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills

Minimum of 5 years’ previous accounting experience at a similar level

Strong knowledge of the Microsoft 365 environment including Excel

Team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills

Assist with bookkeeping in various companies in respective ERP systems to properly account for the financial activities

Prepare monthly journal entries and perform account reconciliations

Prepare financial reports for manager review.

1 to 3 years of accounting experience is considered an asset.

Experience dealing with the public and/or customer support is highly valued.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

You hold a post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance, or have relevant experience in the field

Perform bank account reconciliations, journal entries, accounts payable and accounts receivable management

You have at least 2 years of hands-on experience in bookkeeping, with in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices

Experience in using software such as QuickBooks Online or similar operating systems is an advantage

You possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team

Provide efficient and accurate full cycle bookkeeping services using cloud-based systems

Your Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Diploma/Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field

1-3 years relevant experience working in public accounting with an understanding of Canadian Accounting Standards and the Income Tax Act

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Other software knowledge considered as an asset, especially CaseWare, TaxPrep, and CCH iFirm

Conduct audit, review, and compilation engagements for clients in a variety of sectors and industries

Manage accounts payable and act as an A/P treasurer, monitoring and processing payables efficiently.

Perform additional accounting-related duties as needed to support the finance team.

Manage prepaids and ensure proper accounting treatment.

Work with the finance team to perform various general accounting tasks.

Solid knowledge of intermediate accounting principles and practices.

Previous experience with QuickBooks Online and ability to download and manipulate data.

Computer skills including Excel, Simply Accounting and Quickbooks. Experience with Caseware and Corporate Taxprep, would be an asset.

Accounting experience with a small to mid-size business or professional firm would be an asset.

Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Preparing corporate client financial statements (compilations) and tax returns.

Bookkeeping from client supplied records.

A minimum of 1 year of industry/public practice full-cycle accounting experience

Assist accounting manager and AVP for ad hoc reporting.

Experience in full-cycle accounting and Accounts Payable (2+ years’ work experience).

Experience with sales tax return filing.
