Environmental Risk Coordinator Jobs

Maintain Environmental Management System in conformance to ISO14001 standards and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Monitor federal and provincial environmental legislations, regulatory requirements, new development programs and proceeds with required updates

Create, maintain and submit documents/reports to government agencies, where required, to fulfill regulatory requirements (eg. NPRI, ECA etc.).

Experience with Wastewater Treatment processes an asset

Maintain RPRA waste registrations (formerly HWIN) and coordinate/schedule the shipment of registerable/hazardous waste.

Must have demonstrable experience developing and managing environmental management programs in accordance with ISO requirements

Develop, monitor, and deliver all plans and processes for environmental management, waste management and chemical management and approvals

Prepare summary information for the management review of the EMS

Bachelor’s degree in environmental science and/or environmental management from reputable and recognized university is preferred.

Advise project managers of potential environmental risks and impacts associated with specific field activities.

Identify Legal and other requirements applicable to the projects. Maintain a list of those requirements.

Have fifteen (15) or more years of experience in Environmental Management.

Assess and identify gaps under environmental management systems and performance tracking processes and propose mitigation and optimization measures.

Carry out or coordinate workshops and awareness sessions on new requirements or updates in systems and processes.

Preferred experience in the oil & gas industry.

Liaise between internal business line and support organizations on all environmental matters.

Track and maintain an updated list of internal organizations' compliance gaps.

Good time management and multi-tasking abilities;

Lead on waste and hazardous material management on site (waste manifest management; inspections/ inventory/ measurement etc);

Assist with operating budget management, as well as PREQ creation (SAP) and tracking;

Lead key document and procedure updates; identify and manage gaps as needed;

Manage intermediate-level projects on site;

Assist in providing environmental advice/education notifications to site supervisors and

Knowledge and experience in threat assessment and risk management, triaging risk, sexual violence, mental health, behavioural issues and/or addictions an asset

Minimum undergraduate degree in a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered

3 to 5 years of experience working in a complex and confidential environment

Extensive knowledge of suicide intervention, violence prevention, and privacy legislation

Exceptional knowledge of a wide variety of resources on campus and in the community for students, staff, and faculty members

Excellent and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to thoughtfully communicate sensitive information

Experience with Environmental Management System- ISO14001:

Provide support to management of environmental incidents (exceedances or spills) and as required to non-compliances.

Site inspection/audits and verify environmental compliance to the authorizations and permits and report any deficiencies to Manager.

Administrative tasks such as getting quotes, preparing requisitions relating to environment to support Manager.

· Assist with on-going implementation of Stelco’s Environmental Management System in accordance with ISO 14001.

· Develop and implement source reduction and environmental control solution to improve performance and meet new requirements.

· Manage and direct contracted service companies working on environmental projects.

· Practice the requirements of the Stelco safety program to ensure a safe work environment.

· Provide support to the Manager – Environmental Affairs, as required.

· Minimum of five years of relevant work experience

Maintain the Environmental Management System and ensure compliance with applicable best practices, regulations, Environmental Management Plans (EMPs) and site-specific plans.

Experience interpreting and working with federal and provincial environmental regulatory and permitting requirements associated with infrastructure development projects.

Have awareness of environmental obligations and responsibilities.

Manage data collection, storage and analysis.

Experience working successfully in large, multi-disciplinary engineering design teams and heavy civil construction teams.

Relevant professional certification (e.g., PBiol, BIT, Trainee RBTech, AAg, EPt, etc.) or ability to obtain is an asset.

Demonstrated project management skills coordinating environmental programs, approval submissions, and information within the project team.

Supports environmental management (e.g., planning, assessment, permitting, and/or compliance monitoring) and regulatory processes.

Coordinates owner led environmental studies and provides environmental input into project management and reporting processes.

Reviews environmental submissions against the requirements of the Project Agreement to identify non-compliance.

Prepares permit applications and tracks approvals, amendments, and compliance with environmental requirements.

Manages timelines, project status reports, and budgets.

Develop and implement environmental compliance management systems to monitor and enhance environmental performance

Comprehensive knowledge of British Columbia and Canadian environmental regulatory and permitting requirements

Develop and manage environmental and social systems and practices to promote sustainable operations

Possess a post-secondary degree specializing in a related technical environmental discipline or equivalent experience

Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse stakeholders

Coordinate the execution of the environmental assessment process, ensuring efficient and timely completion

Experience with project management and managing external contractors or consultants

Experience with industrial wastewater treatment and waste management systems

Strong oral and written communication abilities, including technical writing, data management and analysis, budget preparation and presentations.

Evaluate the current system performance and incorporate innovations or new technologies to enhance the mill’s environmental management system.

Familiarity with ISO 9001 and 14001 Quality and Environmental Management Systems and with Federal and Provincial legislation/regulations

Maintain project data tracking requirements.

Review requirements and prepare proposals and estimates for new contracts.

5+ years' experience managing design and construction environmental compliance for large construction projects.

Working knowledge of Provincial and Federal environmental legislation.
