Emergency Services Technician Jobs

Post-secondary education, preferably in a related area of study.

Hazardous materials and/or environmental experience is an asset.

Vacuum truck experience is an asset.

Strong communication skills (both verbal and written).

Valid Certification in First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).

Involvement in chemical firefighting tasks.

Knowledge of and/or experience working within emergency communications (9-1-1, PSAP, etc.) is an asset.

Knowledge of and/or experience working within a an EMS organization would be an asset.

In depth knowledge of Canadian and provincial fire and emergency services legislation, regulations, and related governance is required.

Experience conducting Community Risk Assessments (or similar) related to the provision of fire and emergency services is required.

Previous experience completing Fire Service Master Planning, or equivalent, is preferred.

Recognized experience as a strong communicator and facilitator, as well as high-levels of political awareness and acumen are required.

Experience in the Fire/Emergency field;

OFA 3 or EMR certification;

Assisting with the management of the program’s day-to-day business

Assisting with the management of the ESS team (including recruitment, training, retention, and recognition)

Experience with budgets, grants, plan developments, and housing policies.

‘On call’ for ESS response on a rotational basis

Assisting with the onboarding of the modernization program from EMBC, ERA

Assisting with the development and maintenance of the community’s ESS plan

Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Coordinates all administrative logistics for meetings, events, education sessions, workshops, video conferences, and teleconferences including appropriate space, equipment, and materials.

Three to five years of recent, related experience including experience working with various computer software programs.

Knowledge of applicable computer hardware and software programs and ability to perform web-based searches.

Some Other Typical Duties And Responsibilities

Assists with maintaining the program/department web page.

Grade 12 education or equivalent secondary school education as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education;

5 years experience diagnosing and repairing problems on heavy vehicles and equipment;

5 years experience diagnosing and repairing problems on air and hydraulic systems;

Demonstrated customer service skills including ability to provide technical guidance;

Demonstrated communications skills, both written and verbal;

Experience with emergency vehicles, apparatus and equipment is an asset;

Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the health care system.

Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

Demonstrated understanding of group process and experience resolving complex multi-stakeholder issues.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Experience with financial analysis of operating budgets would be an asset.

Demonstrated leadership ability in complex and highly changeable situations.

Maintains responsibility for own development through active participation in in-services and or continuing education programs.

Responds to medical emergencies with an RN and transports patient to ED.

Responds to critical patient situations.

Sets up and assists with operating specialty equipment.

Performs clinical procedures within scope of practice.

Performs EKG's, glucometry, phlebotomy, point of care testing, and collects/sends specimens.

Surgery : 8a – 6p. Days TBD. Open to full-time OR part-time. DOES NOT require weekends.

Minimum five (5) years recent clinical experience

Baccalaureate degree in a health-related discipline

Significant pre-hospital experience working with ground and air ambulance programs as a paramedic or registered nurse

Experience working collaboratively with community partners and stakeholders to build capacity

Experience monitoring and managing operational budgets would be an asset

Requirement to have previous project management experience and estimator experience

Monitor financial performance of project throughout execution to ensure budgetary performance and effective management of scope change

Competent in conflict and crisis management.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science , Project Management

Operations experience is an asset, but not a requirement

Manages assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality and organizational performance and continuous learning.

Assisting the Emergency team with patient triages and exams

Assisting the Emergency team with diagnostics (radiography/CT)

Assisting with Emergency surgeries - patient prep and prep of the surgical suite

Some reception duties including answering the phones and checking in/billing out emergency clients

Providing compassionate care and comfort for hospitalized pets.

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills are required; must be an effective team player

Recent NVCI training / certification considered an asset

Responsible for obtaining and accurately updating client information at time of registration, including demographic and provider information
