Job Description

King Animal Hospital, a newly constructed Equine and Small Animal Referral and Emergency Hospital, is seeking passionate and experienced Registered Veterinary Technicians to join our Emergency Department.


Our hospital is a 55,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility located on 50 acres in King City, Ontario, and will offer specialty referral, rehabilitation, and emergency services.


As a practitioner, you will be able to provide excellent patient care through the support of strong diagnostics, and a multidisciplinary team that will include fellow RVTs, strong ACA support and Board-Certified Surgeons, Critical Care Specialists, Neurologists, Internists, Anesthesiologists, Ophthalmologists, Dermatologists, and Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine Specialists.


Under the direction of the Lead RVT and Emergency Veterinarian, you will utilize your skills to provide the highest level of care to our critically ill patients. Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician plays a critical role in providing emergency care to animals in need. You must be skilled, compassionate, and able to work well under pressure.


  • Equipment Maintenance: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician is responsible for maintaining and cleaning emergency equipment, such as oxygen tanks, defibrillators, and suction machines.
  • Triage: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician must be able to triage animals based on the severity of their condition and provide appropriate care. This may involve identifying life-threatening emergencies and stabilizing the animal before the veterinarian arrives.
  • Continuing Education: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician must stay up-to-date on the latest emergency medicine techniques and technologies. They may be required to attend conferences or complete continuing education courses.
  • Registered Veterinary Technician must maintain accurate medical records for each patient they care for. This includes documenting medications administered, diagnostic tests performed, and any changes in patient status.
  • Patient Care: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in emergency situations. This includes administering medications, performing diagnostic tests, monitoring vital signs, and providing support to animals in distress.
  • Communication: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with clients, veterinarians, and other team members. They must be able to provide updates on patient status and relay important information to the appropriate parties. Record Keeping: The Emergency Services
  • Emergency Procedures: The Emergency Services Registered Veterinary Technician must be proficient in emergency procedures such as CPR, intubation, and administering oxygen. They must be able to respond quickly and calmly in stressful situations.


We will provide training on leading diagnostics and equipment including but not limited to 3.0 T MRI, 128-slice GE CT, digital x-ray, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, peripheral nerve stimulator, and more.


Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Ideally a minimum of 3 years as a Registered Veterinary Technician
  • Experience in a specialty referral/emergency hospital is desired but not required
  • We will invest in training for special candidates with less experience so please do apply!
  • You will ideally have several years of experience in emergency services.
  • The successful candidate will be an excellent team player, have a passion for animal care and have the desire to work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.
