Responsible for contributing to AMETEK’s Continual Improvement Program and ISO requirements.

Evaluates planned order requirements and initiates purchase orders

Escalates and reviews all critical supply issues with Purchasing Manager

Review MRP (Material Requirements Planning) Report daily and generate purchase orders to meet production needs

Improve inventory turns, manage and keep all inventories current and up to date

Follow purchasing procedures to purchase materials and services to meet operational requirements while maintaining accuracy

Required to have strong negotiation, problem-solving & decision making skills

Proven experience to remain organized, and prioritize work effectively.

Research and analyze product and material selection

Provide purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends to the management team.

Work independently in a highly collaborative environment that requires frequent communication with other departments and usually, reports to upper-level management.

Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities.

Leadership – work closely with other staff members within the company and management

Computer skills – keep digital files and ERP system updated and manage purchase orders

Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite (Lightning) preferred but not required.

Knowledge in SAP is a bonus

You have a Two-year college or technical school, and you have 5+ years of purchasing experience.

Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing. French knowledge would be an asset.

Responsible for the Operational Procurement for one site or several sites.

Qualifying Contractors for onsite labor prior to Purchase Order creation (ISN working knowledge an asset).

Contacting vendors to obtain &/or verify price, part number, source of supply.

Make delivery arrangements with carriers and vendors.

Releasing purchase orders against vendor agreements.

Seeking/recording/updating material source of supply and information within the system to streamline future purchases.

Assisting with material information updates and changes.

The Buyer is responsible for providing procurement support including contract development, analysis, and execution critical to production

Implement procedural improvements to streamline business practices and be instrumental in the successful execution of contracts.

Determine purchasing strategy for commodity group, submit RFQ’s, garner samples, and manage NPI projects from concept to launch.

MRP Experience is considered an asset

Make strategic sourcing decisions based on the lowest total cost of ownership.

Identify cost savings and efficiency savings in the supply chain

Have previous purchasing experience (required) within a manufacturing or production environment (strongly preferred)

Have experience in high volume shipping, receiving, and inventory control processes (strongly preferred)

Investigate and report on inventory discrepancies

Partner with engineering, production teams when there are changes to products/BOMs

Effective follow-through to track on-time delivery

Maintenance of material reorder process (plus identification of areas for improvement)

Completion of postsecondary schooling in Materials Management, Operations, Purchasing, or related field.

A certificate in purchasing from the Purchasing Management Association of Canada may be required.

Excellent problem-solving skills – highly analytical.

Advanced computer skills – emphasis on Excel, Outlook, OneNote.

Coordinates diversified and complex purchasing activities with all functional departments acquiring goods and services in a cost effective and timely manner.

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required

Perform inventory analysis and management, avoiding low stock, overstock and obsolete inventory

Coordinate with Sales and Marketing to develop demand requirements for events, promotions, shows, campaigns, product launches and stocking orders

University degree in Finance, Business Administration required

At least two years of purchasing experience

Strong forecasting and budgeting skills

Any other related tasks associated with these responsibilities.

Advanced knowledge of computers (MS Office Suite).

Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple tasks.
