Contract - until end of 2023 (extendable)

Location - Hybrid - Markham/ON 2 days per week

We are seeking a skilled and experienced CSS + Next JS Contractor to join our client's on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CSS frameworks, particularly Bootstrap and Next JS, along with proficiency in component libraries that incorporate AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) standards such as Radix UI or Headless UI. Additionally, knowledge of other CSS frameworks like Tailwind CSS and familiarity with Azure B2C, Azure DevOps, ADO CI/CD + Docker, and Azure Cloud Services would be advantageous.

Responsibilities:

• Code implementation: The contractor will collaborate closely with the development team to implement the CSS and Next JS code into the project. They will work alongside front-end and back-end developers to ensure seamless integration and adherence to project requirements.
• Performance optimization: The contractor will optimize components for optimum performance, ensuring that the CSS and Next JS code is efficient and responsive. This involves identifying areas for improvement, making necessary refinements, and implementing best practices to enhance the overall performance of the application.
• Unify the CSS framework: The contractor will be responsible for harmonizing the existing CSS framework with the work provided by a third party and the new development produced by our team. This involves streamlining and standardizing the CSS codebase to ensure a consistent and cohesive platform.
• Testing software: The contractor will be responsible for testing the software for functionality issues related to CSS and Next JS. This includes conducting thorough testing to identify and resolve any bugs or compatibility issues that may arise.
• Component development: The contractor may be tasked with creating new components or modifying existing ones to align with the unified CSS framework. This involves translating design mockups into code and ensuring that the components are optimized for performance.

Requirements:

• Strong CSS skills: A solid foundation in CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap and experience with Tailwind CSS is desirable. Minimum 3-5 years of experience working with CSS.
• Nice-to-have skills: Experience with Azure B2C, Azure DevOps, ADO CI/CD + Docker, and Azure Cloud Services (APIM, Azure Functions, Azure App Service) would be beneficial but not mandatory.
• Attention to detail: A meticulous approach to writing clean, maintainable code and an ability to identify and resolve CSS-related issues is essential.
• Proficiency in Next JS: Demonstrated experience working with Next JS and React, with 2-3 years of practical experience.
• Knowledge of AODA-compliant component libraries: Familiarity with component libraries that incorporate AODA standards, such as Radix UI or Headless UI, is preferred.
• Team collaboration: Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with designers, developers, and stakeholders to implement the desired CSS and Next JS solutions.
