Job Description

Job Description:

Omniply is looking for a Vice President, Research and Development to oversee a team of scientists working on new materials of thin films and delamination technology used for fabricating the next generation of flexible organic light-emitting diode (OLED) displays. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in material science, physics, or chemistry with experience in thin film science and inorganic coatings. The candidate would have demonstrated experience in leading and managing R&D development towards product commercialization.


Desired Skills:

  • First-hand experience with managing an R&D team and establishing project timelines. Understanding of interfacial chemistry, adhesion forces for thin film semiconductor applications. Drive for innovation for new processes and materials.


Qualifications: 

  • Good analytical skills, ability to work under pressure. 
  • Ph.D or M.S. in material science, chemistry, chemical engineering, physics, or related field with management experience required.
  • Data-driven with strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • 10+ years of industry experience or research in thin film materials with an experience in leading a technical team towards material innovation and commercialization.
  • Knowledge of surface properties in multilayer films.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing R&D teams working on various aspects of product development.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and creative/innovation.
  • Familiarity with thin film deposition techniques and metrology tools.
  • Experience in developing strategy to scale up technology towards product development


Responsibilities: 

  • Willing and capable to doing hands-on work with R&D teams.
  • Deliver on project communication and actively pursue contingency plans.
  • Update management and the company board of directors on various projects
  • Enable team to document the results in comprehensive technical reports.
  • Lead R&D strategy for coatings development, interfacial adhesion properties optimization between multilayer inorganic thin films, and delamination equipment development.
  • Effectively apply the latest thin film design techniques and materials.
  • Manage a team of material scientists.
  • Work with technical advisors and industry leaders to shape the Omniply’s technology development and product roadmap.
  • Create and secure intellectual property for Omniply.
  • Work with customers to understand their requirements and organize internal projects to meet deliverable.
  • Prepare and present the R&D updates to the management and the board on a regular basis.
  • In collaboration with eco-system partners, enable go-to-market strategy for flexible display and semiconductor applications.
  • Develop process recipe for fabrication of materials & device characterization parameters for the new materials.
  • Effectively communicate the R&D vision to the Omniply technical staff.
  • Establish project management and prioritization of all R&D development to meet customer deliverables and commercialization schedule.
  • Providing technology R&D roadmap.
