Veterinary Client Service / Phone Operator

The Veterinary Emergency and Referral Hospital of West Toronto in Mississauga, is a newly established after hours emergency clinic and referral hospital, offering urgent care to pets and their owners when their family veterinarian is closed along with specialty veterinary medicine. We have been operating since 2011 but will be moving into a new facility. We pride ourselves on providing compassionate urgent medical care to patients and clients after hours when their family veterinarian is closed. We are looking for an experienced veterinary receptionist/Animal Care Attendant (ACA) to join our team in a part-time/full time capacity. Every shift is different and offers an experience to learn and use your hands on skills.

You will work side by side with the Registered Veterinary Technicians and ER Veterinarian affording our clients the benefit of a personalized experience. Our patients are not just a number, your success will be connecting with our clients to help ease the stress and uncertainty of dealing with their sick pets.

Requirements

• A passion for helping pets and their owners.
• Excellent client communication skills.
• Ability to work overnights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift weights of up to 50 pounds.
• Eagerness to learn and grow.
• >1 year of experience working in a veterinary hospital setting.
• Ability to work with a range of different people with different personalities.
• Ontario Secondary School diploma or equivalent.
• Comfortable in PC and Mac environments.
• Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities

• Client communication (reception).
• Housekeeping duties including some cleaning of the facility and the patients.
• Billing, processing payments/refunds and other office duties.
• Assisting the veterinarians and RVTs with patient care as a team and independently.
