Job Description


As part of our Manufacturing team, you’ll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we’re constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we’re continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles. VME (Vehicle Manufacturing Engineering) is a cross-functional team having the primary responsibility to plan for and implement the launch of new vehicle programs at assembly plants.


Responsibilities


The Manufacturing Engineer candidate will be a part of this team and be responsible for the following at Oakville Electric Vehicle Complex (OEVC):


  • Use virtual tools to evaluate the feasibility of new model designs for high volume assembly operations.
  • Lead assembly tooling installation, start-up, and commissioning at the assembly site. In addition, support tooling buyoffs @ vendor facilities.
  • Create and follow a master schedule for the design, build, and implementation of tools in your subsystem.
  • Write/modify/maintain process sheets and deliver updated Cycle Line Layouts.
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of all launch product and tooling issues.
  • Interface with cross-functional activities (Product Development, Supplier Technical Assistance, Material Planning & Logistics, New Model Programs).
  • Deliver Manufacturing Delivery Quality Operating System requirements for your specific Subsystem (Electrical, Powertrain, Suspension, Exterior, Interior, Vehicle Engineering).
  • Collaborate with Product Development team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements.
  • Develop "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs.
  • Drive Engineering Change implementation throughout the key program milestones
  • Lead identification, resolution, and closure of Final Assembly Engineering feasibility issues.
  • Support Department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, People, Morale, Environment, and Innovation (SQDCPMEI) initiatives.
  • Deliver cycle line layouts and work with the assembly plants to have a complete operator/equipment workstation ready for launch


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications:


  • Ability to support launch programs on extended travel
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (MSEE preferred) (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
  • Excellent Project Management skills and result-oriented mindset
  • Understanding of PFMEA and failure mode avoidance principles
  • Computer skills (Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • 3D CAD review abilities (Teamcenter, VisMockup, CATIA, or equivalent)


Preferred Qualifications


  • Experience w/automotive assembly tooling, processes and facilities preferred
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Strong verbal & written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Knowledge in the following Ford software systems: FEDEBOM, WERS, GSPAS/APT, Teamcenter, E2KS, AIMS, AURORA
  • Automotive Manufacturing Engineering experience preferred but not mandatory
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)
  • Ability to operate in stressful situations within timing constraints


Additional Experience preferred:


  • Experience in one or more of the following automotive systems: Interior, Exterior, Chassis, Powertrain, Electrical, Water test, End of Line
  • Error proofing


Additional Information:


  • Ability to travel including extended travel to assembly plants in US and/or Mexico required to support vehicle launches
