Transit/Infrastructure Project Manager, General Contracting - Permanent - 16170

One of Canada’s largest General Contractors, is seeing year on year growth Canada wide including defining project wins for their Ontario Civils business. As a result, they are working with Parker Huggett and interested in speaking with Leading Transit professionals capable of fulfilling a Project Manager role within their team to deliver a major project and, more importantly, aid in the growth of their transport group in the GTA!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Supervising and developing the project team members through regular feedback, training and coaching; timely completion of performance evaluations
• Managing project budget and billings and working with accounting to ensure timely payment of A/R and A/P
• Monthly and quarterly reporting on financial and overall performance of project to Senior Management
• Reviewing / analyzing costs and identifying revenue opportunities
• Fostering and maintaining positive relations and communication with clients, consultants, architects and subcontractors
• Administration and management of prime contract and subcontracts; includes negotiation and awarding of subcontracts for scopes of work as well as review and evaluation of subcontractor performance
• Planning, scheduling, setting objectives and controlling activities during the construction phase of a project(s) in conjunction with the Project Superintendent and Project Team
• Providing safety leadership through implementation of the safety program and monitoring safety performance of project team and subcontractors

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

• 5+ years’ hands on leadership experience in a construction company
• Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
• Proven ability in ensuring successful completion of projects, their profitability, and for retaining owners as continuing clients of the company
• Strong leadership capability as evidenced by demonstrable success in team/collaborative work environments
• Evidence of exceptional leadership skills and ability to influence, mentor and coach
• Proven track record of successful project delivery on civil infrastructure construction projects ranging from $50 - $100+ million
• Ability to lead and operate within an environment where change happens frequently
• Commitment to recruiting, mentoring, training, and retaining a focused team; the foresight and ability to delegate accordingly
• Deep expertise and a proven track record with respect to the continuous improvement of project delivery services and value-added constructability processes and practices
• Undergraduate degree in construction management, civil engineering or relevant field experience
• Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
• Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities, capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
• Experience in working within a joint venture setting during preconstruction and construction phases
