Position Summary
As a part of the Engineering Delivery team, the System Engineering Intern will support Systems Engineering on site tasks such as day-to-day operation of the Systems Integration, inclusive of Specialty Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Installation Engineering in the resolution of production related issues.
Systems Engineering Intern will be supporting the on-site team to deal with design changes and engineering issues brought about by production and commissioning issues.
Systems Engineering Intern will also be potentially working as a developer on Innovation Projects.
Key Responsibilities

• Documenting codes in bitbucket , and confluence to record the development process
• Assist in risk management and risk mitigation strategies
• Support in the verification and validation of electronic systems
• Supporting Engineering Change Process Work Items
• (Training will be provided for specific tools such as Visual Studio, etc.)
• Supporting the on-site technical team and working collaboratively with the Ottawa project team, and the Customer in the resolution of production issues
• Creating Process Map/Architecture for Innovation Project as a start
• Assist in obtaining stakeholder agreement about changes to and management of the system requirements
• Creating high-level conceptual designs, innovative, scalable, and adaptive solutions for changes to ship designs as they arise gaining agreement to top level solution documentation.
• Providing the engineering support to build process by involving in the workflow of installation, STW, HAT, SAT, tests, inspection when the issue or problem appears
• In Development process, As a developer supporting Innovation Projects by using C#, VBA, SQL
• Support in the development and execution of new Engineering processes
• Ensuring Thales Engineering Data correctly flows down to Integrated Product Team (IPT) members
• Analyze, define and trace system requirements and recommend performance measures
• Supporting to solve design issues and proposed baseline changes that arise during production and commissionning and work through to completion by engaging appropriate Thales engineering resources the Customer, Suppliers, production teams and other stakeholders to define the overall solution.
• Provide support to Innovation project including:
• Provide Shipyard Systems and Installation Engineering Support Function for assigned NSS projects including:
• Presenting the new solution to stakeholders once it is completed

Key Requirements
Must Haves (requirements)

• Being enrolled in Electrical/Systems/Mechanical Engineering program in accredited university and currently studying in 3rd year of study. Doing minor in Software engineering will be asset
• High level oral and written communication skills required for report writing and design justification documentation
• Involved in design projects specifically electronic systems, mechanical systems & Software build

Nice to haves (Asset)

• Excellent understanding and demonstration on creating algorithm for a problem. Experience on software development during projects or school work
• High level of planning, task management, analytical, and time management skills
• Knowledge on coding in SQL, C#, VBA on a data environment
• Experience in the Systems Engineering Life Cycle, including typical tools for requirements development (for example DOORS and modeling tools)

Key Qualifications

• Knowledge on creating and understanding Systems Architecture
• Deep Knowledge on software development process
