Who are we looking for?

Intellitix is looking for a talented, hands on Engineering Lead who is passionate about technology and user experience. In collaboration with the software engineering team and the product management team, you will focus on the day-to-day tactical execution to deliver impactful releases. You will be responsible for driving product changes, from kick-off to launch, that align with the company’s vision and maximize value to users. As an experienced engineer, you have shipped successful software products before and are excited about doing it again.You must be nimble, fast on your feet and able to handle change.

Responsibilities

Focus

• Ensure the maintenance of quality within department by enforcing quality and engineering standards; analyzing and resolving quality and customer service problems; identifying trends; recommending system improvements .
• Introduce industry best practices, processes, and tools to support quick and reliable product development.
• Review product and design specifications for new projects while confirming they are accurate and well documented.
• Establish robust Product Verification and Validation processes, ensuring products perform reliably and meet customer expectations.
• Lead engineering excellence initiatives.
• Develop and implement company policies, standards and procedures for engineering and design .

Leadership

• Provide solid servant-leadership and grow this capability throughout the organization.
• Ensure business strategy, objectives, priorities, and schedules are well communicated within the department.
• People leadership experience is an advantage.
• Provide thought leadership and establish the technical vision.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, Product, and Engineering to ensure that product development aligns with business objectives.

Delivery

• Lead development projects and activities within the department, including the design of cloud software, hardware integrations, legacy platforms, and 3rd party systems.
• As needed, participate in the direct review and approval of designs and changes in design within own discipline of expertise.
• Working with the Scrum Master, provide oversight to ensure the department accomplishes projects within deadlines and budget constraints.
• Quantify the level of effort and ensure sufficient resources are in place in order to execute to schedule, using contingent labour as required.
• Collaborate closely with the VP of Software engineering and VP of Product Engineering, ensuring customer problems are understood and that customer needs are translated into clear system and technical requirements.
• Organize, moderate and delegate engineering deliverables, design decisions and responsibilities daily.

Qualifications and Experience

Tech Stack Experience

• React & React Native
• Serverless functions on GCP or AWS
• Mobile experience is an asset
• Node.js & Express.js

Qualifications

• Experience driving business and consumer facing solutions from conception to launch and iterating through additional releases
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and deliver on multiple tasks to deadlines
• A Bachelor's Degree in a technical field such as Engineering or Computer Science
• Highly organized, detail oriented and deadline focused on implementing the product roadmap
• Ability to lead by influence rather than authority
• Working knowledge of web analytics tools as well as business intelligence solutions
• Experience with e-commerce and payment processing solutions, analytics platforms and
• Exceptional analytical, problem solving and strategy skills
• Ability to adapt to new technologies and business concepts quickly
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to effectively communicate with engineers about product details and technical tradeoffs
