The Process Engineering Specialist is responsible for facilitating continuous improvement in the plant’s manufacturing processes and implementation of APQP for new products.This position works with interdepartmental teams such as Project Management, Product Engineering, Tooling Design, Quality, Purchasing, and Production to bring about successful launch of samples and new products at HSS on time within the constraints of the plant.Interfacing with all teams keeping them apprised of status and timing.Modelling of process to ensure tools build the part as designed.Determine productivity standards, capability of Critical To Quality characteristics (CTQ) and identify areas for improvement and work with other departments in order to resolve problems, with existing parts and in advance for new parts.
Essntial Functions of this postion include:
- Coordinates the technical design and test aspects on the project with suppliers and customers.
- Designs, validates, provides test reports, and sign-off documents, and ensures production readiness.
- Provide reports and updates on progress for areas and tasks assigned.
- Ensure correct process parameter in place for critical processes such as, heat treat, roll forming, and stress peening
- Coordinates the technical design and test aspects on projects with suppliers and customers.
- Work with outside and plant resources to develop new and innovative process options, and to optimize current processes and reduce scrap.
- Assist in the maintenance of the IATF 16949 and ISO 19001 certification
- Performs Quality analysis using tools such as PFMEA, MSA, SQA to determine root cause of issues, disposition product, develop gauge and methods to detect and prevent noncompliance to quality standards.
- Coordinates with CAD, FEA, and laboratory personnel and interfaces with other department in support of the above.
- Helps to assure safety in the lab and office.
Education and Training
·Bachelor of Science in technical discipline degree or BS in Engineering degree preferred.
·Background in quality, and material sciences
Minimum Qualifications
·2 years’ experience in manufacturing at a technical support level required.
·Knowledge of spring manufacturing, forging, welding, hot forming, stamping, coating, or heat treating preferred
·Knowledge of Quality fundamentals recommended.
