The ABB Measurement & Analytics plant in Québec is the world leader in spectroscopy. Our Contract Engineering Department is Canada's largest supplier of space optical sensors used, among other things, for greenhouse gas emissions monitoring and weather forecasting worldwide.
Our plant is also known for its expertise in the development and manufacture of various products that make it possible to meet several industrial analysis
needs on a daily basis.
By joining one of the largest engineering departments in Québec, you will actively contribute to the activities of a dynamic and stimulating multidisciplinary team.
Under the authority of the site manager, the director of engineering plans, directs, and coordinates the development activities of the R&D projects and engineering contracts for the Quebec City and San José teams. He(She) supervises the team, prepares the strategic and operational plan of his(her) directorate, manages the human resources, develops the budgets, and ensures the rigorous monitoring of the amounts allocated to the activities under his(her) responsibility. In addition, he(she) must develop and implement the programs and projects aimed at ensuring efficiency and operational excellence within the department.
You will seek to optimize the performance of the team to ensure that all the requirements are met and that customer expectations are exceeded, with a focus on safety, on-time delivery, quality, and respect of the budgets.
Your responsibilities
  • Recruit and develop his(her) teams in a context of employee engagement and mobilization.
  • Develop partnerships with external suppliers.
  • Establish the budget forecasts, provide monthly revenue forecasts, and ensure rigorous follow-up with the various levels of management of the company.
  • Work closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, Service, and Quality teams.
  • Ensure that the processes for which he(she) is responsible comply with SOX rules and that the activities under his(her) direction are in compliance with health, safety, and environmental policies and direc-tives.
  • Ensure that the company's operational objectives are met or exceeded while ensuring the rigorous application of ABB's various policies, particularly in matters of ethics and compliance.
  • As a member of the executive committee, participate in the development of the company's strategic growth plan and operationalize this plan in the sectors under his(her) responsibility.
  • Ensure the proper functioning of the laboratory and clean room infrastructures.
  • Ensure that the execution of the projects is geared toward customer satisfaction, meeting the tech-nical requirements, quality, timetable, and budget.
  • Develop partnerships with external suppliers.
  • Continuously improve the performance of the Engineering Department through the implementation of operational excellence program tools.
Your background
  • Solid experience in developing high-performing and committed teams.
  • 8 to 10 years of relevant experience in engineering management and project management, preferably in the high-tech sector.
  • English-French bilingualism.
  • Strong focus on results and teamwork.
  • Bachelor of Applied Science.
  • Proven leadership skills, with a collaborative, solution-oriented approach, and strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively at all levels of the company.
  • Good knowledge of engineering techniques, processes, and tools including problem-solving tools.
