Dillon’s Energy Transition (ET) business unit is looking for Electrical Engineers and Technologists to join Dillon’s multidisciplinary team of professionals. You will have the opportunity to work on new and exciting projects while providing clients with a fully integrated and superior customer experience.
At Dillon, we operate as one team. This position will function with the Dillon team throughout Canada with the opportunity for remote and flexible work arrangements to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.
Responsibilities
Project Management
  • Business travel to other Dillon offices upon request.
  • Manage and apply for applicable government funding, grants and financing.
  • Manage feasibility studies, design activities, and construction delivery related primarily to our Industrial & Agrifood client segment while leading, coordinating, and performing techno-economic analysis and studies related to the integration of energy transition solutions and mitigation of Scope 1, 2, and/or 3 emissions.
  • Coordinate team activities to maintain project schedules and ensure successful project completion.
  • Manage and lead multidisciplinary project teams (including electrical, mechanical, transportation, municipal and structural engineers, transportation systems planners, planners, environmental scientists, technical support staff, etc.).
  • Lead in providing quality client services, with particular emphasis on the Industrial & Agrifoods renewable electrical and thermal energy market.
Design
  • Conduct documentation reviews including design drawings and specifications, equipment shop drawings, testing reports, and operation and maintenance documentation.
  • In association with our energy modelling team, process and analyze energy data, assist with the development of energy models, and other simulations, to assess building performance and energy conservation measures.
  • Conduct site visits to review installed equipment, perform equipment tests and troubleshooting and assess the building energy systems to ensure they meet design intent, code requirements, and performance standards.
  • Prepare electrical designs for projects including solar, hydrogen, renewables, geothermal systems, low-carbon fuel projects, and integration of low-carbon fuels to achieve decarbonization targets.
  • Complete assigned projects from initial concept to construction and commissioning.
  • Contribute to and manage electrical scopes of work associated with the specification, design, procurement and construction of energy storage, thermals systems, renewable energy and micro-grid projects.
  • Develop documentation and reports for a variety of project types.

Qualifications
What you will need to succeed
  • Post-secondary education in a related field: engineering alternative energy technology, sustainable development, energy management.
Experience
  • Proficiency in providing technical leadership to a team of professionals.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams of technical professionals on multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A minimum of 10 years of professional experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the consulting industry. Individuals with significantly more years of experience are encouraged to apply and would see additional responsibilities added to the position.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Preparation of project specifications for material and equipment purchase and installation.
  • Proven experience in the review of internal and external designs for code compliance, good design practice and constructibility.
  • Demonstrated success in project management and business development of Renewable Energy projects including Energy Audits, Decarbonisation Studies and/or Recommissioning
  • Maintaining complete project documentation with respect to design and construction, including all completion packages, as-built requirements and return data information.
  • Experience in electrical power and distribution design, fault protection and protective relay design for power utilities.
  • Understanding the electrical components of substations, and transmission line design for renewable energy-related projects.
  • Experience assisting manufacturing or agri-food and beverage clients measure and mitigate Scope 1, 2, and/or 3 emissions would be considered an asset.
  • Design of transmission facilities including line layout, foundations, structure configuration, structure, insulation and conductor specifications.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and design of Low and Medium Voltage Electrical Systems.
