What will you do?


As an Energy Engineer, you will be responsible for the site coordination of various site activities.


  • Take or supervise equipment measurements, data logging, and equipment trending necessary to determine energy savings opportunity.
  • Perform utility bill analysis and create energy intensity indices;
  • Analyze utility bill information to determine applicable baseline consumption data and rates as well as identify possible utility supply side opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations.
  • Develop or assist in the development of the measurement and verification contract document.
  • Develop design concepts and other written documentation to sales and management concerning recommended FIMS, including accurate descriptions, savings potential, cost estimates and back up data to verify FIMS.
  • Prepare Performance assurance reports in accordance to applicable M&V protocols;
  • Provide project development assistance to sell stand alone energy service projects or development of LEED sustainable solutions.
  • Perform as well as assist with preliminary and detailed facility energy audits to identify facility improvement measures (FIMS) and/or capital renewal opportunities related to energy efficiency improvements.
  • Utilize financial spreadsheets to prepare project FIM by FIM cost and savings financial models related to payment including an understanding of ROI, life cycle costing and internal rate of return.
  • Lead or assist in the development of preliminary and final performance contracting proposals.

What will you need to succeed?


  • Knowledge of common building, HVAC and electrical building codes
  • Knowledge of Measurement & Verification protocols, such as IPMPV
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Project or alternate Project Management Software
  • Communication and presentation skills and ability to communicate with contractors, consultants and customer representatives
  • Minimum 5 years of Energy Engineering experience with large HVAC Retrofit, Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Projects, including Performance Assurance (Measurement & verification) experience
  • General knowledge of Health & Safety procedures
  • Knowledge of alternative energy systems including cogeneration, solar PV and solar thermal systems
  • Professional engineering designation and/or CMPV certification and/or LEED designation is a definitive asset
  • Knowledge of building electrical systems, lighting systems, central heating/cooling plants, building envelope and domestic water systems
