Position Title:  Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives
Status:  Full - time Support
Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Campus/Location: This is an in-person (on-campus) role based at the Lakeshore Campus.
Pay Grade/Band : Payband H (Min) $33.38 (Max) $38.75
What You Will Do
The Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives (Black Student Support & Engagement) will report to the Manager, Equity & Student Life and works closely with campus partners and stakeholders to promote and implement programs and activities promoting
diversity and inclusion at Humber (some travel to all campuses is required ). Specifically, the coordinator will create opportunities through programming for students to develop a sense of belonging within the larger Humber environment, promote visibility, and provide
supports and referrals to services both on and off campus for equity-deserving students and student groups. Additionally, the Coordinator will participate in collecting materials to build the B S SE (Black Student Support and Engagement ) assets as well as ensure the
BSSE offices are open and accessible to students, staff and faculty by scheduling volunteers and student staff.
Under the supervision of the Manager, Equity & Student Life, the Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion will be responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the services, programs, and initiatives that promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding
and through an intersectional approach. The Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion Initiatives (Black Student Support & Engagement) will also assist with the hiring, training and guidance of volunteers and student staff , marketing initiatives , data collection and

What You Bring To The Role
Education
The successful candidate will possess a 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Women’s and Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Development, Leadership Theory/Student Development Theory , Universal Design for Learning .
Experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work well independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.   
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Human Rights Code and r elated equity legislation
  • Ability to problem solve using technology, deescalate minor concerns, and seek out appropriate support as needed.  
  • Prior experience providing support for students and/or adult learners in either a community-based setting or within a post-secondary institution will be considered an asset. 
  • Experience working on projects with multiple stakeholders, developing strong partnerships, and working effectively on projects with multiple stakeholders  
  • Budgeting experience, in addition to overseeing an operating budget will be considered an asset.   
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience 
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to principles of accessibility, intersectionality, equity, diversity, and inclusion (practice, program design, etc.).  
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple competing priorities. 
  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365. Familiarity with scheduling, data collection software, and other technology is an asset.  
  • Experience working with students/adult learners with disabilities and diverse backgrounds (Indigenous, Black, racialized, 2SLGTBQ+, etc.).   
  • Experience demonstrating integrity and adherence to the ethical standards of the College, maintaining student confidentiality, and the protection of sensitive information. 
  • Experience working in a busy position with minimal supervision.  
  • Ability to build rapport, apply active listening skills, customize communication style and content while showing empathy, exercising tact, diplomacy, and sensitivity.
