Job Description

Position Overview
Reporting to Calian’s Chief, Human Resources Officer (CHRO), our Strategic Talent Partner will be responsible for providing partnership to one of our four business units and our corporate service team. This role will connect strategic business planning to talent and help to prioritize our corporate talent programming.
Our ideal candidate will have a great ability to lead by influence. Someone who has a strong business acumen that can translate the business need to action, recognizing the people required to support the desired outcome. This person will become a trusted partner to our leaders. With a tactful approach, discretion, and a high level of flexibility, they will use their wealth of knowledge and expertise to effectively communicate, provide advice and coach them toward success.
Responsibilities
Business Unit Partnership and Support
  • Drive informed decision making and process improvements by analyzing data to determine themes and trends, and make proactive recommendations to either mitigate risk or improve talent outcomes and ensure a consistent and engaging employee experience
  • Maintain professionalism and provide solutions and guidance that are within legislative compliance for all provinces and states Calian conducts business in
  • Collaborate with business unit leadership to build the strategic talent plan in support of the business plans
  • Unite business requirements for talent with HR’s programming and operations
  • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders with demonstrated patience, tact, and respect
Talent Stewardship
  • Ensure the business unit has a strategy to access the right skills and experience that support their needs
  • Create HR partnerships and strategies to meet the talent requirements to support present and future business needs
M&A Due Diligence, Integration, and Support
  • Identify and navigate around potential issues or gaps to lay a foundation toward smooth integration
  • Partner with other business units to welcome and integrate them into Calian culture
  • Build relationships with future acquisition leadership
  • Create integration plans for HR programs and elements, while guiding implementation and delivery of HR milestones
  • Partner with the business unit to assess and evaluate potential acquisition targets from an HR perspective
  • Communicate to Senior Leadership Team (SLT) the status of M&A
Qualifications
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Office programs (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Access is considered an asset)
  • Experience in a broad range of Human Resources or business leadership functions
  • Excel at delivering outcomes through others and scaling impact of teams
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience working with and across multiple functional areas of HR and operations
  • Experience implementing and directing performance against key operational and strategic objectives
Additional Requirements
  • There will be some travel up to 10%
  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Secret level
  • This position can be fully remote
