Sr. Manager – Technology Delivery/PMO

Duration: Permanent Full-time
Location: Mississauga (Hybrid)
Our retail client is looking to hire an Sr. Manager – Technology Delivery/PMO on a full-time permanent basis in their Mississauga office.
The Senior Manager, Technology Delivery leads a team responsible for the strategy and delivery of various Technology Infrastructure & Operations programs in the areas of technology end-of-life asset refreshes, new store technology implementation, new distribution center technology deployment and infrastructure and cloud engineering implementations.
This role is accountable for the setup of a technology delivery framework and process artifacts, reporting, demand management while ensuring the execution of low to high complexity projects/programs is performed on time, on quality and on budget. Additionally, the individual must be able to influence Director/Sr Director/VP level leadership and build consensus among cross-functional stakeholders in the areas of Technology Product, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, Format Development, Logistics Operations, and Central Operations.
Your New Role
Strategy, Program and Demand Management
• Work closely with the Technology Product, Technology Infrastructure & Operations, Format Development, Logistics Operations, and Central Operations teams on the creation of the Technology Delivery program of record for the fiscal year.
• Lead/Facilitate the project/program intake process, program management, resourcing, and budgets for the various in-scope projects/programs.
• Act as a subject matter expert in the areas technical project delivery for Technology Infrastructure & Operations. Ensure that the overall program / solution leverages best practices as seen in the industry today and across US, International and Global.
• Assess the complexity of requests and provide the business unit with an accurate timeline for delivery of a solution proposal while balancing business priorities and resource capacity. Assign requests to appropriate technical subject matter expert(s) (SMEs) based on their availability and domains of expertise.
Program Delivery and Execution
• Own the end-to-end execution of priority projects and implementation, including business case development, capital / expense trade-off decisions and implementation planning and delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional groups to gain consensus and alignment of timelines, scope & deliverables, and budgets
• Develop the tactical plans to roll programs out and ensure ongoing success, work with senior leadership to highlight potential changes that drive incremental value or a better experience for the internal / external stakeholder. Measure and track key performance metrics including resource allocation, department P&L, resource planning, project budgeting, and financial forecasting.
• Report on program success to senior/C-suite leadership, measures business against KPIs, lead and lag measurements. Call out roadblocks and lead solutions to correct the path of the program.
• Review solutions documentation and costs with Finance and Strategic Sourcing, as required, to ensure proposals appropriately incorporate established criteria and secure approval.
Technology Delivery Framework
• Build the Technology Delivery program management framework, process artifacts, reporting and tools to ensure effective execution of the Technology Infrastructure & Operations program of record.
• Establish portfolio/program/project management best practices and standards that will improve quality and efficiency and realize targeted business outcomes. It includes but is not limited to process improvements, standard templates, and formal documentation.
• Define and ensure the use of standard methodologies, processes, PPM tools reporting metrics
(KPIs), and dashboards.
• Drive capability building in the areas of project / program management and lean / agile ways of working and establish a center of excellence (COE) for the domain
• Maintain a deep understanding of the overall enterprise strategic aspiration and build a thought-leadership reputation.
Change & Communication Management
• Build client-ready content and compelling status reporting/dashboards for senior executive steering sessions related to the Technology Infrastructure & Operations program of record
• Responsible to communicate to all applicable levels and roles of the organization on the status of the portfolio.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
Hard skills
- 5-8+ years of experience in a Project Management Office (PMO) role
- Dashboarding and reporting skills necessary to produce GANTT charts or similar, to provide visibility to project timelines and resource availability.
- Proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office 365 products and tools such as Jira, Confluence for project management
- Cloud computing, Server technologies and management - Microsoft Server, Active Directory, Data Centres, Networking connectivity, Unified Communications and Collaboration
- Strong understanding of technology fundamentals such as:
- 7-10 years in Technology Services overall
Soft skills
- Ability to employ an entrepreneurial and collaborative approach when engaging with business stakeholders and Technology members
- Personality and Work Ethic · Independent self-starter; owner’s / servant leader’s mindset
- Ability to quickly build credibility and influence senior stakeholders
- Experience working with service vendors/suppliers and coordinating with internal teams
- Exceptional presentation, storytelling, and communication skills (including facilitation in remote/virtual models)
- Experience building & validating compelling (XLS) models and business cases
- Demonstrated understanding of how to measure and track key performance metrics including resource allocation, department P&L, resource planning, project budgeting, resource planning and financial forecasting
- Thrives in a fast-moving environment, with high tolerance for change and ability to adapt
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and complex issues and concepts
- Creative and innovative thinker with high standard of performance
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills
