The Opportunity
The Specialist, Truth & Reconciliation and Indigenous Recruitment is a newly created position that is part of the National Inclusion, Diversity & Equity (ID&E) team.
This role is accountable for leading the implementation of our firms’ Truth and Reconciliation Action Plan (T&RAP), a multi-year strategy that accelerates our commitment to responding to the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action #92 for the corporate sector.
The T&RAP has the commitment of the senior leadership team and was developed in consultation with KPMG in Canada’s Indigenous Peoples Network, Indigenous employees, and Indigenous communities and organizations.
This new role will provide great opportunities to learn and grow. The role will be split into a focus on 1) recruitment of Indigenous talent and 2) enablement of Indigenous talent to the firm and delivering against our T&RAP plan.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Senior Manager of Indigenous Recruitment & Enablement, Senior Manager of Truth & Reconciliation, Executive Sponsor of Truth & Reconciliation, and the National ID&E team. In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate frequently with team members across the country in Talent Attraction, National Indigenous Peoples Network, Indigenous Advisory Circle, Human Resources, Indigenous Client Services Practice, Social Impact, Procurement, and Marketing & Communications.

What You Will Do
Talent Attraction (50%)
  • Connect early Indigenous talent with scholarship, internship and mentorship opportunities
  • Play a leadership role in the development of innovative and inclusive campaigns including social media and presentation content targeted to Indigenous communities
  • Engage and build mutual trust with Indigenous talent to support the candidate journey
  • Work closely with post-secondary institutions, employment partners, community partners and National Indigenous Peoples Network to attract and hire Indigenous talent to the firm
  • Coach and enable Talent Attraction team and support them in connection with Indigenous talent and community partners
Truth & Reconciliation Action Plan (50%)
  • Play a key role supporting the successful implementation of our T&RAP priorities
  • Support ongoing engagement and consultation with our Indigenous Advisory Council and National Indigenous Peoples Network on how we move our T&RAP forward
  • Contribute to building and maintaining strong, mutually beneficial relationships external Indigenous organizations and partnerships to advance T&RAP goals
  • Plan and enable education and awareness-building to advance Truth & Reconciliation and an inclusive environment for Indigenous talent across the firm
  • Support the design and delivery of engagement and retention strategies for Indigenous talent at the firm
  • Measure, track, and share T&RAP progress and impact in a way that honours and upholds Indigenous methodologies and cultural traditions
What You Bring To The Role
  • Experience in Excel, Project Management, and/or data analytics would be an asset
  • Understanding of Truth & Reconciliation and the role of businesses
  • Experience working in Recruitment or Human Resources
  • Experience developing and facilitating initiatives/programming that is informed by Indigenous experiences
  • Knowledge of the diverse realities and lived experiences of First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis peoples
  • Experience working in partnership with Indigenous communities and/or Indigenous-led organizations
