Software Developer, Java Backend (Hybrid)

Your Moneris Career - The Opportunity

The Java Developer is responsible to design, develop, implement and support the back-end software components within the Gateway platforms team. You will work with architects, other developers, QA specialists, DevOps and business systems analysts in an agile manner to create quality and scalable Microservices.

Location: You will be based in our Toronto or Montreal office and will work in Hybrid model.

Reporting Relationship: You will report to the Director of Software Development & Architecture.

Your Moneris Career - What You'll Do

• Creation, maintenance and support of secure, high quality, and software components
• Collaborate with Database Administrators on Database design and make any necessary performance tuning recommendations.
• Collaborate with other developers, QA specialists, system support specialists and other team members to integrate components and implement/support a functional solution in an Agile environment.
• Create/maintain documentation on complex information using data flow diagram.
• Design, develop, unit testing, implementation and support of java based back end microservices dealing with large volumes of sensitive data in a real-time environment.
• Ongoing proof of concepts of new technologies and design patterns with an eye to help make architectural decisions for software platforms.
• Contribute in sprint planning and other Agile ceremonies.

Your Moneris Career - What You Bring

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Computer or Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of experience developing and testing of JASON-based API using Open API standards.
• Familiar with Agile and DevOps concepts including tools such as Gitlab and Jira.
• Experience with in-memory storage and messaging bus components such as Redis and Kafka is an important asset.
• At least 3 years of experience developing production scale applications in Java using Microservices architecture and Spring Boot framework.
• Experience using Microsoft SQL Server or an equivalent RDBMS.
• Experience using Kubernetes and Docker is an important asset.
• Experience with Cloud services and solution development in Microsoft Azure.
