Our Position
The Mississauga Site Director serves as the operational lead for the AstraZeneca Mississauga site (both strategy and execution). The Mississauga Site Director will lead a cross-functional team and work closely with the Site Leader, the Site Leadership Team (SLT), across all Mississauga head-office functions, and with other key internal and external customers, to agree and implement the strategic plans to make the Mississauga site one of the best global multifunctional hubs in the world.
This is a critical role, and this individual will be empowered to play a strategic role in proactively and optimally applying knowledge, strategies, innovation, operations, and resources to address current and future needs to build one of the most valuable multifunctional (Marketing, Sales, Clinical Research and Development) sites worldwide.
As a senior leader within AstraZeneca’s organization, the Mississauga Site Director is expected to interact with the company’s key customers to understand where there are unmet expectations and to shape the strategies to address these expectations both short and longer term in a very innovative, proactive, and efficient way. It is a role with significant exposure to key internal customers.
The job holder will play a critical role in making the Mississauga site a great place to be in terms of scientific leadership, attracting and recruiting top talent and having a vibrant workforce.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
  • Ownership of seamless employee onboarding/offboarding process providing best-in-class experience for employees and hiring managers.
  • Lead all aspects of the overall strategic plan for Mississauga and ensure effective and efficient execution of the plan.
  • Responsible for enterprise site governance ensuring strategy, policy, and culture alignment across the organization.
  • Lead, drive and further build a world class site by fully engaging internal capabilities and talents and augmenting through key additions.
  • Lead a team of :5 employees spread across functions to ensure operational excellence of the site strategy.
  • Responsible for driving the Mississauga site reputation internally working in close collaboration with senior global colleagues in AZ in all Senior Executive Team areas.
  • Budget ownership and accountability for managing key vendor partnerships.
  • Workforce planning lead ensuring site strategy and operation plans are aligned to future needs for both head office and field-based employees.
  • Builds great place to work by providing sustainable site infrastructure including facility, workplace health and safety, IT, and fleet management.
  • Although internal focus should be predominant, there is also an external focus and global scope of the role. The Mississauga Site Director can expect to spend up to 10% of their time travelling with potential to increase to match the evolving site strategy.
Preferred Background
  • Strong track record of success and innovation, and with demonstrated affinity for science and project management.
  • Proven ability to shape teams or organizations in a positive way – in response to internal or external challenges.
  • Ability to engage and influence cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
  • Demonstrated strategic leadership and judgment. Possesses the confidence to operate effectively at senior levels with internal and external constituents.
  • Extensive knowledge of AZ.
  • Prior experience in a global organization is a must.
  • Commitment to attracting talent and developing employees to achieve their full potential.
  • Direct experience leading cross functional teams with excellent results in execution and delivering results.
