Our government client is seeking a Senior Technical Architect with expertise in Desktop Engineering to support the modernization of end-user technologies. The ideal candidate will assist in the development, configuration, deployment, and troubleshooting of desktop images, facilitating a smooth transition from a Windows 7/Microsoft Office 2010 environment to Windows 10 and 11 with Office 2016 (or 365).

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize Auto-Pilot Enrollment and manage Deployment Profiles and Pre-provisioning Services.
• Engineer and configure Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT) for Windows 10 deployment on client devices.
• Create Windows 7/10/11 images for multiple platforms (desktop PCs, laptops, tablets).
• Provide process documentation for technical specialists, including Functional Design Documents (FDD), Consolidated Support Manuals (CSM), and Technical Notes (TN).
• Develop, test, and implement Group Policy Objects (GPO) to secure and manage Windows 10 endpoints.
• Troubleshoot Microsoft-based desktop images and remote endpoints in a Government of Canada environment.
• Configure and implement MS Deployment Toolkit (MDT) for image deployment.
• Configure and manage Intune's "Managed Endpoint Security" services.
• Assess and implement desktop images in a Government of Canada (Federal) or public sector setting.
• Develop and support Citrix environment by managing the Citrix Master image and/or Citrix Group Policies.
• Develop procedures and processes for desktop image deployment.
• Configure and manage Windows as a Service (WaaS) for desktop environment.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience in at least 8 desktop specialist projects in the last 10 years.
• 3 years of experience developing, testing, and implementing Group Policy Objects (GPO) and configuring Intune's "Managed Endpoint Security" services.
• Experience with Azure Cloud services, including Auto-Pilot Enrollment, Intune's Configuration Service Provider (CSP), and application development with MS Endpoint Manager.
• Fluent in English (speaking, reading, and writing).
• Experience in a Government of Canada (Federal) or public sector environment.
• University degree or college diploma in an IT-related field.
• Strong knowledge of Azure Cloud services for desktop image development, Proactive Remediations, PowerShell scripting, and MS Graph API.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a desktop image and deployment specialist, including developing Windows 7/10/11 images and configuring MS Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
• Familiarity with the deployment of Office 365 in a Government of Canada setting.
• 2 years of recent experience with Auto-Pilot Enrollment and Windows as a Service (WaaS) configuration.

Tasks & Deliverables

• Transfer knowledge to in-house desktop technologists and provide support to technical support teams.
• Create and validate updated desktop images, deploy them to laptops and tablets.
• Review existing desktop images, identify deficiencies, and recommend improvements.
• Collaborate with the Technology Modernization Project Manager and contribute to weekly status meetings.
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies related to desktop evolution and perform impact analysis.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts for addressing OS issues and automating endpoint management.
• Document release procedures and develop detailed process documentation for technical specialists.
• Develop a migration strategy for user data when upgrading from Windows 10 to Windows 11.
• Assess and enhance MS Deployment Toolkit (MDT) and Microsoft Endpoint Manager (MEM) processes.
• Monitor trends in the deployment of Office 365 within a Government of Canada setting.
