TI Corp is a Crown Corporation that has a mandate to deliver $13.3 Billion in major infrastructure on behalf of the BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport.
Overview
The position manages components of a major capital transportation project through all phases of the project management life cycle.
The ideal candidate for this position is an innovative professional engineer and project manager, who has experience in project managing civil infrastructure design and construction including municipal works. Through the application of project and quality management best practices, the individual will ensure stakeholders are engaged and given excellent service, risks are proactively identified and managed and informed decisions are made.
Key Accountabilities
- Plans and conducts project evaluations and post-implementation reviews, and documents findings for future reference.
- Makes presentations and provides advice to senior management on project status.
- Provide project status reports and make recommendations on items such as scope change or mitigation strategies.
- Work with a team of Engineers, Project Managers, Design and Operations groups, multiple internal and external stakeholders, and partners to project manage and administer associated construction consultancies/contracts.
- Develop, shape, and advance project and quality management standards through a project management framework developed for the OMC5 project and support their practical and consistent application throughout the project.
- Develops and implements all consultation, communication and marketing plans.
- Manages the financial resources for their area of responsibility on the major project.
- Manages and implements projects through all phases of the project management life cycle within accepted standards and deliverables.
- Provides leadership, support and coordination on a major project team including responsibility for developing people, providing mentorship, and creating a vision for the team.
- Determines project scope, defines deliverables, and develops project charters to align with the direction of the program area.
- Ensures strategic initiatives are implemented in the project.
- Develops and implements project work plans that defines scope, key deliverables and milestones.
- Develops and maintains a broad range of stakeholder relationships to achieve project objectives including leading sessions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in business administration, public administration, or engineering and several years of recent related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Recent is defined as within the last 10 years.
Related experience must include all of the following:
- Supervising/leading in a professional environment, including managing the workload of other project managers and consultants, managing employee performance, coaching and mentoring, goal setting, and leading the resolution of HR/performance issues.
- Leading new large provincial projects involving a diverse range of project portfolios to schedule with milestones.
- Developing partnerships, and alternate procurement, including design/build, concession agreements and public-private partnerships.
- Budget management.
- Managing relationships with senior level stakeholders and engagement sessions.
Preference may be given to applicants who have operational experience with major infrastructure projects or experience with property acquisitions, First Nations Consultation and the Environmental Assessment process.
