Job Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager - Group Benefits for one of our clients in the insurance industry.

  • Hourly salary of $80.00-$84.00 (based on experience).
  • Full-time (37.50 hours per week).
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain detailed schedules and RAID logs, proactively managing risks/issues while effectively leveraging the change control process and escalating for support and awareness as appropriate.
  • Provide project management for complex projects and programs within the Group Benefits portfolio.
  • Prioritize and manage own workload and the workload of project team members in order to deliver quality results against aggressive timelines.
  • Ensure successful and seamless transition of projects to Operations and Production Support teams.
  • Support Business Analysts/Consultants in understanding and communicating business aspirations and strategies.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in the business and relevant capabilities.
  • Build collaborative relationships with project sponsors and stakeholder teams.
  • Establish effective project communications, ensuring that project delivery expectations are clearly understood and specified, and that information/updates are distributed in a timely manor to ensure stakeholder buy in and project success.
  • Motivate, engage and focus efforts of multi-site project teams by providing clear direction, ensuring access to required tools and removing barriers as necessary.
  • Ensure all projects have appropriate level of governance and are executed with demonstrated alignment to Sun Life project execution standards and practices.
  • Ensure successful execution of concurrent business and technology projects.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans that align scope, time, cost, quality, resources and risks with on-going monitoring of project execution for any deviations from the plan, invoking corrective action and contingency plans where necessary.
  • Play a role in organizing, attending and facilitating project workshops with diverse group of cross-enterprise stakeholders.
  • Ensure that appropriate processes and techniques are being leveraged by project teams, identifying any necessary training or support required.
  • Provide leadership in the delivery and execution of all phases of assigned projects from initiation to closure, managing timelines, budget and scope for multiple concurrent projects.
What You Will Need To Succeed
  • Experience working on complex projects and programs.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Familiarity with the Canadian Operations organization or similar operations in the insurance industry.
  • Proactive and energetic approach to project management.
  • Ability to develop subject matter expertise in business and relevant capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to take initiative.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in a relevant role.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in supporting Business Analysts/Consultants in understanding and communicating business aspirations and strategies.
